RSVIP: Celebrating the SAG Awards

Saturday night, Cara Buono, right, Faye Miller on "Mad Men, " ascended the carpet-covered cobblestone that leads up to the Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood wearing stilettos to attend an Entertainment Weekly fete honoring SAG Awards nominees, presented by L'Oreal Paris. Chunky jewel-tone stones by David Yurman dangled from her earlobes. Her voluptuous figure was highlighted by a sparkly black dress by Oday Shakar with a broad V-neck. "I have to tell you, I was ready," she said of her ability to march up the steep driveway in heels. "It's just getting out of the car."

Sophisticated beyond her years, Ariel Winter, of "Modern Family," had just celebrated her 13th birthday. One didn't expect the tween to have caught "No Strings Attached" to celebrate. "I'm a very big fan of Natalie Portman," she told Luxist. "I recently met her at the Golden Globes. She's pregnant, and she's beautiful!"

Upstairs at the Chateau, a notorious hangout for Hollywood bad boys (Dennis Hopper in the 1960s) and fun-loving starlets, the back garden, reminiscent of a hilltop cloister in the north of France, had been tented with clear plastic. The five women who played the Ward and Eklund sisters in "The Fighter" were tressed like sirens, not like the bleached and teased 1980s throwbacks they played onscreen. Bianca Hunter, Cathy "Pork" Eklund, said endured a "double-process platinum blonde" coif for the film and a "gray tooth." Jenna Lamia, Sherri Ward, said her "Fighter" wardrobe consisted of "a yard of acid-washed denim."

Seated for dinner in an alcove to the right of the front desk, Mark Ruffalo and his wife joined Chevy Chase. "I tried to keep cool, but I had to drool on him a little bit," Ruffalo said of Chase while he and his wife made their way back to their room at the Chateau. "He's seriously cool."
Nearby, funny man David Spade carried two drinks with one hand.

Just about everyone swooned for Sofia Vergara of ABC's "Modern Family" when she walked the Emmy Awards red carpet on Sunday. Vergara looked like an award herself in a pale yellow Carolina Herrera strapless gown embellished with gold and silver sequin detail. She teamed up with hair care brand Suave Professionals to let America choose her red carpet hairstyle for the evening and her classic glamour girl curls were chosen by votes and styled by Suave Professionals Celebrity Stylist Jenny Cho.

Sofia's entire award show style (sans jewels of course) – the dress and the Suave Professionals products used to create the winning look are up for bid through Clothes Off Our Backs, the charity that auctions off celebrity items for good causes. Proceeds from the auction benefit Clothes Off Our Back's charities including Feeding America, Malaria No More, Hope North, AbilityFirst, Villa Esperanza and Alex's Lemonade Stand. The auction ends September, 13, 2010 and bidding starts at $1,000.

RSVIP: Kim Kardashian Brings Sexy to the FIFI Awards

kim kardashian An Oscar is to film and a Tony is to Broadway what a FIFI Award is to fragrance.

On June 10, the 38th Annual FIFI Awards commandeered New York's Downtown Armory, adding a sniff of glamour to the behemoth brick Army post. Kim Kardashian appeared vacuum-packed into a gown by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad. The double breasted scoop in the front, with six large buttons, added gravity-defying lift to Kardashian's ample cleavage. Like everyone at the event, she spoke Fragrancese. "It's basically all my favorite memories in a bottle," said the reality-show star of her eponymous scent, aptly subtitled in the sexy ads, "The voluptuous new fragrance."

"The gardenia [note] is for the family vacations with my dad in Hawaii," she said. "Tuberose reminds me of my mom. All my favorite scents happen to be white florals. I added a bit of orange blossom for citrus," she told Luxist.

Usher, honored as the FIFI's 2010 Fragrance Celebrity of the Year, wore a padded black waistcoat by Alexander McQueen that resembled fencing garb. He called his move into fragrance "the branding of Usher," and speaking of his scent "VIP," he told Luxist, "This will be my fifth fragrance. I wanted intelligence; I wanted elegance. If you look at the advertisements, the weight of the bottle, the essence, it's all top-shelf."

"When everything else comes off," he quipped, "the fragrance stays on."

"I was happy to find my new love, new passion, which is fragrance," he said, then posing with a soldier in fatigues.

Walk-On Role In Modern Family Up For Bid At Auction Napa Valley

We mentioned this year's Auction Napa Valley event last week but didn't cover one usual feature of the event, the Hollywood connection. In addition to celebrity attendees, the auction usually has a stellar lot or two offering a chance to get the celebrity VIP treatment in Los Angeles. This year's lot comes from former Disney executive Rich Frank and Connie Frank, owners of Frank Family Vineyards, and Steve McPherson, co-owner of Promise and President of ABC Entertainment. The Modern Family Affair lot includes a walk-on role on ABC's "Modern Family," dinner at Mélisse with smoking hot actress Sofia Vergara and lodging at the Beverly Wilshire. After your star turn you jet off first class on American Airlines to Cabo San Lucas, and a enjoy a luxurious stay at the Esperanza Resort. Enjoy drinkable souvenirs in the form of a five-year vertical of etched 1.5L bottles of Frank Family's Winston Hill (2002 - 2006), and 12 bottles of 2005 Promise Cabernet Sauvignon.

The lot is one of about forty live lots offered at the auction which will be held on June 5 and proceeds benefit local charities in Napa Valley. Eric Stonestreet, who plays the role of Cameron on "Modern Family," will be on hand at the auction to encourage attendees to bid on the lot.
