The Slide Sofa gets its name from the fact that the back cushions can slide around on the sofa's wooden frame, providing the user with a degree of flexibility that most other couches don't offer. The drawback would be that not all sides of the couch would be cushioned at any one time, but as long as you're more likely to want a table-like place to set a drink down than to squash five people onto a sofa, you shouldn't have any problems with this design.
