The Brabus T65 RS Vanish Gets Glamor Shots

Before Brabus turned its T65 RS Vanish over to the rightful owner, it took the car to Glamor Shots for a round under the lights and here are the results. The former Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series is now a twin-turbo, 800-horsepower beast with 811 pound-feet of electronically limited peak torque – the engine's uncorked potential is 1,017 pound-feet. About the only other limit the Vanish has is top speed: capable of 206 miles per hour, it is limited to 200. You probably won't mind, though, because in less than ten seconds you'll be doing 124 mph, which could be all the rush you'll need. Your own SL65 AMG Black Series probably won't go that fast right now, but Brabus has good news: everything on the Vanish can be bought for your car. Except that "One-off" plaque, of course.

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series by Renntech

Enticed by the Brabus Vanish, but disappointed to find out it's one-of-a-kind? Renntech is glad to help out. The Florida-based Mercedes tuner par excellence has taken on the SL65 AMG Black Series, and the results are even more impressive than those garnered by rival tuning house Brabus. Five horses more, but more nonetheless.

With a simple tweak to the engine's computer, intercooler and exhaust system, Renntech has squeezed out an extra 135 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque from the twin-turbo V12 for a grand total of 865 hp and 1,000 pounds of twist. The upgrade costs $16,390, which may seem like a big chunk of change, but it's a drop in the bucket against the car's quarter-million-dollar stock list price. The highly recommended upgrades to the transmission and differential will set you back a little extra, though.
