Moller Takes Another Shot At The Sky With The Autovolanter
Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

I've been fascinated by Paul Moller and his passion for flying cars for years. Now in addition to the Moller SkyCar he is also working on the Moller Autovolanter, modifying the body shell of a Ferrari 599 GTB for flight. The Autovolanter has a ybrid powertrain comprised of rotary engines and electric motors. As Autoblog reports a wealthy Russian businessman prooposed the project and the car has already gone through small-scale testing. The goal is for the car to have a 150-mile range on the ground, with 40 of those coming from battery power alone, and 75 miles of airborne flight at high speeds. It will need 800 horsepower and need about $5 million for continued development so the quest is on for more wealthy Russian businessmen with their eyes on the sky.
