Skana, The Spa At Turning Stone
Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Spas
The trend of destination spas in casino resorts isn't just for Las Vegas. A new mega spa recently opened at Turning Stone, a resort and casino in Verona, New York. Skana is a 33,000-square-foot spa, salon and fitness facility which opened on November 1. Skana (named for the Oneida tribe word for peace) uses natural products and seeks to provide all the healthy living aspects of a destination spa at a place that also provides all the attractions of the larger resort casinos. The spa uses ancient American Indian healing traditions including herbal earth remedies using sage and white pine oil and water therapies. There are 12 treatment rooms including a massive 3,500-square-foot VIP suite. The fitness center includes an an indoor pool and cardiovascular training machines. There is also a Native American Sweat Lodge and healthy gourmet cuisine is available at the Skana Spa Cafe. Skana will be used mostly by guests of smaller Lodge at Turning Stone, the all-suite luxury option at Turning Stone.
