Chronoswiss Sirius Triple Date Watch

chronoswiss sirius triple date
Chronoswiss had an impressive collection of new timepieces at this year's Baselworld event. Nothing too crazy, but solid watches that one can see wearing for a long time. A notable piece is this Sirius Triple Date, which is just that - a Sirius collection watch with a triple date plus moonphase set of complications. Triple date watches are also known for a specific type of layout on the dial. This has window indicators for the day and month, and a dial for the date with a moon phase indicator contained within it. The rest of the dial has easy to see leaf style hands and a mixture of hour indicators. The 40mm wide case preserves the Chronoswiss look with the typical style lugs and onion crown. The case comes in either 18k rose gold or steel. Inside the watch is an automatic Swiss movement (not sure which one though). Really that won't matter to most people getting the watch anyway. Nice piece that should be available a bit later this year.

Tony Bourdain And Eric Ripert Plan Radio Show

tony bourdainTony Bourdain has always seemed to me to be the Howard Stern of the food world, brash, smart and always entertaining. So it makes sense that he will be joining the Sirius XM network with his own radio show. Bourdain and his friend, fish-loving French chef Eric Ripert are going to have a five-week radio show on Sirius XM's Martha Stewart Living Radio.

Bourdain told the AP
that part of his personal challenge is to see how uncomfortable he can make Ripert. If you've ever watched the two interact on "No Reservations" you know that Ripert is the more subdued of the pair, although not without his own sense of humor. I can only assume that for Ripert, the charming chef of Le Bernardin, his own personal challenge might involve making sure Bourdain doesn't go too far off the rails. At least it is on satellite radio so Bourdain won't have to keep his love for salty language in check, in fact the pair are planning a "food porn" radio segment devoted to saucy descriptions of culinary creations.

The show "Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert: Turn & Burn", will run for five weeks starting February 18. The first episode will also feature another charismatic chef, the flame-haired bon vivant Mario Batali. On February 25 they will broadcast live from the South Beach Food and Wine Festival and speak with special guests during the live broadcast, including Chef Daniel Boulud.

Getting Sirius: Luxist Samples The Dalmore's 58-Year-Old Scotch

There are some opportunities that only come up once in a lifetime – if you're lucky. You may not know them before they present themselves, but you sure will when they have. Experiences like driving a Ferrari around Italy. Dining on the top floor of the World Trade Center. Shaking hands with the President. Or drinking a whisky that's old enough to have been your father.

The good folks at The Dalmore distillery in the Scottish Highlands were kind enough to oblige us on that last one a few weeks ago. And we've spent at least a few minutes every day since trying to figure out how we'd describe the experience to you, our loyal readers. Follow the jump to read how we found it.

Dalmore Releases the £10,000 Siruis Single Malt

How much would you be willing to spend on a bottle of whisky? A couple hundred? A couple of thousand, if you had the cash on hand? How about £10,000? That's the headline selling price for the latest release from The Dalmore distillery in Scotland.

The Sirius Vintage has been maturing since 1951, making it one of the rarest, oldest and finest malts available. But availability is a relative concept: Dalmore will only be producing 12 bottles of this most exclusive single malt scotch, available from a small selection of airport duty free concessionaires around the world.

With a cask strength of 45%, master distiller Richard Paterson describes the taste as "distinguished and elegant" with notes of "intense citrus and honeyed chocolate" followed by hints of "roasted coffee, crushed walnuts and liquorice spice". Sounds delightful, but at those prices and quantities, we'd better not get too attached.

Oh The Horror! XM Makes Its Way Into a Ferrari

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Ferrari purists, you might want to be sitting down for this one.

Years ago, it was sacrilege when Ferrari put so much as a radio in its cars, which at the time were likened to off-track race cars and sported similar amenities -- next to none. Now, as Rolls-Royce and other high-end brands are jumping on the infotainment bandwagon, Ferrari is following suit.

Modena has chosen XM over Sirius for its cars, opening Ferrari drivers up to the world of possibilities that not only offers up satellite radio programming, but also provides NavTraffic, a service alerting drivers to real-time traffic information en route.

The 612 Scaglietti is the first in Ferrari's stable to receive the equipment, which comes with a three-year subscription to new owners.

Which Is More Luxe Sirius or XM?

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

With two new satellite radio deals announced recently, one for XM (Porsche) and one for Sirius (Bentley) I got to thinking, which of these two major satellite radio providers is considered the more luxe based on the brands they associate with. Certainly Bentley and Porsche are of fairly equal cachet, perhaps Bentley has the edge given that the average price of their cars is a bit higher. Looking back over the different brands associated with the two companies I would have to give the nod for better luxe placement to Sirius. Let's take a look at some more evidence based on our past reports:

Limited edition cars:
The XM radio is in the Richard Tyler Saturn Sky
The Sirius radio is in the Saks Mercedes

Hotels:
Hyatt paired with XM radio
The W offers Sirius suites

Oh, and the Sirius radios are also already in Rolls-Royces. Game, set and match to Sirius.

Rolls-Royce Will Make Sirius Radios Standard

Filed under: Gadgets, Luxury Cars & Autos

Sirius satellite radio has announced that Sirius radios will be a standard feature in all U.S. sold Rolls-Royces. The radio will come with a lifetime subscription to Sirius. Sirius delivers more than 125 channels including Howard Stern who started his satellite radio show this week and play-by-play from the NBA, NFL and NHL.
