Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a whisky which is matured in smaller barrels (quarter casks) that increase the amount of oak influence in the whisky and allow more of the local air to infuse with the whisky. The decision to use the smaller casks is a return to the tradition of the past when small barrels of malt whisky were transported across Scotland by horse and carriage. The result is a whisky with a sweeter taste. The whisky has recently been released in limited amounts. Strong stuff, it's 48% alcohol and sells for around $50.
