Hellman-Chang Crystal Edition Furniture

Furniture designers Daniel Hellman and Eric Chang have been friends since childhood and began their furniture design/build practice in a Maryland garage. What started as a hobby soon turned into a thriving business. The pair are now headquartered in Brooklyn with a showroom in Manhattan and Hellman-Chang pieces have appeared on "Gossip Girl" and in "Sex and the City 2." The pair have also designed pieces for major projects including the Four Seasons Hotel, Setai Hotel, Sotheby's, and Metropolitan Home's Showtime Showhouse. Their latest adventure takes them to a more glittering place, they have a created a crystal edition of some of their popular pieces using Swarovski Crystallized elements. Adding crystals to the pieces ups the glamour and in the case of the Omni side table shown above, adds a geode-like quality. This piece sells for $12,000.

C Table Combines Art and Decor

Furniture and photography meld in one cool table. The C Table is a collaboration between art photographer Richard Bettinger and the McLaughlin Collection, a maker of acrylic furnishings. The C Table features Bettinger's fine art photos on the top surface. Shown above is Bettinger's Light Speed on a pair of C tables positioned back to back. The tables are available in pure white or inky black Lucite. The table can also be positioned so that the lower part can slip beneath sofa or chair. Several other images from Bettinger are available. The McLaughlin Collection's acrylic furnishings and accessories are durable and 100% recyclable and the acrylic scraps produced during the manufacturing process are collected and recycled into new material. The products are hypoallergenic and produce no off-gassing and all furnishings are manufactured in the U.S. The C Table is available to interior designers and architects through David Sutherland Showrooms.

Zoe Side Table

The very unique Zoe Side Table is a small piece of furniture that will definitely make an impact in a room. It is made of dark-stained ash and its zig-zag design allows plenty of space for stacking books, magazines and other odds and ends. As the table is, essentially, a rectangle, you could probably even turn it on its side to match, in height, a couch or futon that is set close to the ground. Price: $525.

Too Peace Table

The Too Peace Table is a balancing act, it's two pieces maintaining the perfect angle needed to support it. Don't be fooled by the delicate look, though: there is actually a small stainless steel leg behind the solid wooden base that makes this table as sturdy as you could need it to be. The table is available in solid ebonized oak (pictured), which would be a good choice for a modern black/white themed room, or solid cherry, for something warmer. The tabletop is solid glass. Prices: $1,600 (oak); $1,800 (cherry).

Multilevel Side Table

This little table is not a very expensive piece, but its unusual design would make a big statement in any room that it was put in. The Multilevel Side Table has wood shelves arranged around a brushed metal pole. Each of the shelves has a unique and organic shape, which gives the piece a very natural look, vaguely like smoothed stones that might sit alongside a creek. Each shelf can be used for storage and the table might also make an interesting display for photographs. Price: $100.

Cheese is a hot item right now, with more upscale restaurants offering cheese courses in addition to dessert than ever before, so the cheese-lover is already in heaven when he or she goes out to eat. Now, cheese can be used as more than just food. It can be used to decorate the home without looking, well, cheesy. The Fromage Side Table is a sleek piece of solid walnut carved to resemble Swiss Cheese. It could just be the ultimate cheese board, in a very literal way, although you will have to watch what you set on it.
