New Luxury 'Scuderia One' Ferrari Watch By Cabestan - Only For Ferrari Owners

Murmurs about a deal between Ferrari and a new watch maker partner have been looming since their mutual break-up with Panerai. While Ferrari has some less expensive watches out there, they need a good high-end timepiece with their name on it. I suppose the question for them was to go classic or wild? Well they went wild. The new deal seems to have been a product of courtship by talented watch designer Jean-Francios Ruchonnet on behalf of Cabestan, one of the brands that he designs watches for. Recent news has confirmed that the deal has been signed, and Ferrari will soon have watches made by the boutique luxury watch brand. Ruchonnet will design the watches - and here is a prototype.

The new watch, called the Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan, is clearly based on a design combination of the new Cabestan Nostromo and the existing Cabestan Winch Vertical Tourbillon. The design has of course been influenced by modern Ferrari design and technology. The middle bridge section is in carbon fiber, and I wouldn't be surprised is the strap is made in materials used for seats and/or steering wheels. Of course, this may be just a prototype images, but Ferrari is likely happy with the look.

Price for the piece will be 300,000 euros and will be a limited edition of 60 pieces. It will have a tourbillon and does have the very time-consuming-to-produce fusee chain - where each link in the tiny bicycle chain style series of links is made by hand (by master watch maker Eric Coudray). The movement is extremely accurate for a mechanical watch at about plus or minus one second per day. Units of production? Not sure. Is this the idea watch that you want a poster of next to that new sexy Italian super car? Maybe. For those who aren't in the know, the time is told on rotating, vertically aligned barrels. Overall, the watch is certainly cool. It was when it was just a Cabestan, and it will be with the Ferrari name on it. According to Cabestan, the watch will only be available to Ferrari clients. Not sure what that means, but it sounds like it will be sold only by Ferrari, perhaps only to Ferrari automobile customers.

Partially Via Business Montres (in French).

Ralph Lauren Scuderia Bag Collection

Filed under: Handbags, Luxury Cars & Autos

Fashion and sportscars go together like yachts and Monte Carlo, but even in such elevated fields, few bridge the narrow gap as stylishly and enthusiastically as Ralph Lauren. His renowned automobile collection includes such multi-million-dollar rarities as the 2005 McLaren F1 GTR LM, 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic and 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK, to name just a few. But his real love is Ferraris, which include some of his most prized posessions: a pair of original Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas (a similar example of which recently set the world auction record at $12 million) and a 250 GTO (which would probably sell for even more if an owner was ever willing to part with one). We guess he loves Ferrari so much, he decided it was about time he gave something back, in his own way. And this is it: the Scuderia bag collection.

Named after Ferrari's famous racing division, the Scuderia bag collection includes duffles, totes, wallets and more, all made from butter-soft perforated black calfskin with contrasting racing stripes. Black and yellow were Lauren's intriguing colors of choice, instead of the more obvious red and tan, and they're all available at select retailers, Ralph Lauren stores and directly from the online shop...for a price. The Scuderia Tote pictured above goes for a princely $1295.

Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

For those lucky car junkies who still have a hefty hunk of mad money left there is this new temptation. Ferrari has released an open top version of the F430 Scuderia at the World Finals in Mugello in celebration of its recent victory in the Formula 1 Constructor's World Championship 2008. Ferrari says the Scuderia Spider 16M is the fastest open top model they've ever tested around the Fiorano circuit. It does a 0-to-62 hop in a scant 3.7 seconds. There are 499 of these cars being made, a standard version that is black with gray trim or a tricolour livery is also available as part of the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation Programme. A special plaque on its rear grille commemorates Ferrari's 16th Constructor's World title. Other features include a roll-bar with carbon-fibre outer shell and an audio system that can be combined with the removable customised Ferrari iPod Touch 16 GB with central dock just in front of the dashboard. How much will it cost? The price hasn't been released yet but as Autoblog mentions, it will undoubtedly be higher than the $277,000 base price of the coupe.
