At times the hot summer weather can subconsciously push you into routine outfit when you are just trying to stay comfortable and not sweat profusely throughout the day. True confession: I never wear high-heels. Why? Well, as a very tall woman who is dating a not-so-tall man, I have a hard time justifying, both to myself and to my fellow, those few extra inches of altitude. While I recognize that certain shoes are more flattering for your legs, the fact still remains: I hate heels.

Because I hate heels, I've been on a life-long quest for a closet full of perfect flats. In my experience, finding great flats in black is never much of a challenge. But then I found Pedro Garcia's nude satin round-toed flat sold on-line at milk. While the shape is so Audrey Hepburn a la Roman Holiday, the details are anything but retro-quaint. With raw edges and a silver chain across the toes, these shoes offer everything a modern girl could want from a shoe that is not a heel. And at the risk of sounding completely hysterical, I must say, I hope that when I die, I am buried in these shoes.
