Satin Evening Mindanao-Print Bag, Handbag of the Day

The Satin Evening Mindanao-Print Bag by Emilio Pucci is a pretty thing with a surprise snap compartment on the bottom that has just enough room to stash a few beauty essentials and includes a vanity mirror. The main compartment is a round satchel with a drawstring closure via double straps in matching silk-print fabric and a silk lining.

I really like it except the mirror on the bottom concerns me -- it's attached to the bag and you have to tip the bag to use it. Won't that spill the contents all over the place? $1,495

Loubinight Satin Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Although this creation by Christian Louboutin is a handbag, the Loubinight Satin Clutch still manages to channel the high heeled shoes with signature red soles that he's so famous for designing. Bright, vibrant green satin on the outside and rich, 'signature red' satin on the inside, this clutch's most endearing feature is the darling pair of miniature crystal Louboutin heels (you can tell because they have red soles!) that stand on the bag's top and double as the clasp.

If you're one of those who just can't get enough shoes, then this is the perfect way to wear more than just one pair at a time. $960

Cancan Feathered Satin Clutch, Handbag of the Day

I don't think I could necessarily carry this Cancan Feathered Clutch (it reminds me too much of something a Vegas dancer should be wearing on her head) but that doesn't mean it's not fashionable and fun for someone else to buy. This bag is perfect for bringing a little spice to an otherwise simple outfit. Available in black with purple or red details, it features a large satin bow on the front that you can hardly make out beneath all the feathers sticking whimsically in every direction. $1,215

Bottega Veneta Satin Box Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Gorgeous and sleek but not too simple, the Bottega Veneta Satin Box Clutch is a pretty pastel lilac with a stylish basket weave pattern and a delicate sheen that make for a quiet statement of glamor. Features include a rigid curved-edge frame with tonal leather trim and a decorative golden knot on the top. Clasp closure, satin lining, and unfortunately no shoulder strap (I wish it had a golden chain with the option to tuck it inside). Perfect for an elegant summer party but is also the perfect clutch for wearing with your fave black dress anytime of year. $1,100

D&G Satin Evening Bag, Handbag of the Day

This is an evening bag that should make any woman feel elegant, feminine, and timeless. The D&G Satin Evening Bag has a slight 'old-fashioned' vibe, in a good way, and would be the perfect accessory for a favorite little black dress. Made of fine satin inside and out, plus with polished gold hardware and metal grained leather trim it has the look of shimmering elegance without trying too hard by adding jewels or other bling. The bag folds up to open at the top via a kiss-lock closure and to reveal a D&G logo on the front, just above the pleats. 9 1/2" x 5 1/2" (when folded) x 1/2", $455.

Jodi Arnold Embellished Duchesse Satin Pocket Top

At times the hot summer weather can subconsciously push you into routine outfit when you are just trying to stay comfortable and not sweat profusely throughout the day. For me, that outfit is either a t-shirt and shorts or a tank top and shorts. I've got to get out of this rut. I came across this Satin Top by Jodi Arnold and thought this would be a more stylish alternative. I am not too sure if satin would be the fabric of choice on a super hot summer day. Although the name - Satin Pocket Top - would leave you to believe that it is made of satin, it is actually 100% cotton, so you are good to go. This cap sleeve top features stone embellishments and side pockets on either side. Price: $308.

The Perfect Flat

True confession: I never wear high-heels. Why? Well, as a very tall woman who is dating a not-so-tall man, I have a hard time justifying, both to myself and to my fellow, those few extra inches of altitude. While I recognize that certain shoes are more flattering for your legs, the fact still remains: I hate heels.

Because I hate heels, I've been on a life-long quest for a closet full of perfect flats. In my experience, finding great flats in black is never much of a challenge. However, finding a pair of decent-looking neutral-colored flats? Well, that's like trying to find virtue in the Red Light District of Amsterdam. Good luck with that one, ladies.

But then I found Pedro Garcia's nude satin round-toed flat sold on-line at milk. While the shape is so Audrey Hepburn a la Roman Holiday, the details are anything but retro-quaint. With raw edges and a silver chain across the toes, these shoes offer everything a modern girl could want from a shoe that is not a heel. And at the risk of sounding completely hysterical, I must say, I hope that when I die, I am buried in these shoes.

It's a tall girl's dying wish...
