Obviously the animal print trend is alive and well in the handbag world. I, for one, hope it stays that way. Designers keep finding new and interesting ways to employ these exotic patterns and I never tire of them. This one takes the jungle print uptown with gold accents and the result is stunning. The metallic gold leather trim highlights the pretty curves of the flap and the detachable chain strap adds even more elegance to the shimmery satin bag. I am, however, just about over the charm trend. This one sports five, hanging from a gold ring on the side of bag. Measuring 11"W x 6"H x 2½D, the bag sells for $1390.

Lulu Guinness remains one of my favorite handbag designers. Combining elegance and attitude, the bags are often quirky but always stylish. The Sputnik Clutch is no exception, marrying rich black satin with retro sputnik cabouchons and multi-hued embroidery. The slick black frame opens to bright yellow lining and one interior pocket. Measuring 22cm wide by 12cm high, the bag sells for £145.00.

Here is a modern take on the classic satin evening clutch. Pretty berry colored satin is studded with gem-cut silver-tone accents in an allover geometric pattern. Relatively affordable and beautifully retro, this beaded clutch looks like something my mother might have tucked away in a drawer somewhere. The classic frame clutch is covered in peacock blue satin and adorned with delicate beading in a vintage wallpaper pattern. A hidden wrist chain makes the bag comfortable to carry and the push-lock closure opens to reveal a dark satin lining and a gusseted pocket. Also available in a deep eggplant. $120.
