Marc Jacobs Castoro Ash Satchel, Handbag of the Day

A frame satchel bag is such a gorgeous lady like bag. It posses a classic shape that allows for many items to be stored without any added bulkiness all the while looking oh so chic and modern – regardless of the era.

Marc Jacobs has taken the ever appealing and versatile frame satchel and transformed it into an ultra luxurious and perhaps a tad bit ostentatious accessory. I'm not sure what to make of this handbag. The Castoro Ash Satchel ($3,895) is fully covered in soft and supple beaver fur and is minimally accented with chocolate brown leather handles and flap with a touch of gold studs. The interior is lined with leather and offers a zipper pocket and other compartments.

While I admire the shape, size, colorway and minimally adornment, I would have loved to see this in leather or even brocade to create a more wearable bag.

There's an explosion of haphazardly placed pockets on the Multi Pocket Bag by Charlott Vasberg ($654). When I first came across Vasberg's shoulder bag, it was this unexpected accent which immediately caught my attention.

There are three zippered or snap closure exterior pockets that make it easy for you to grab your smaller essentials while the interior has a large base allowing for a multitude of items to fit comfortably without adding bulkiness. Additionally, there is an adjustable shoulder strap, allowing you to you wear across the body or at your shoulder. Styled in a dark rich chocolate brown napa leather, Vasberg's Multi Pocket Bag would make a versatile and unique fall accessory. Measurements: 14"W x 9"H x 4"D.

Thought I'd take a break from tough leather and studs to showcase this Toile Canvas Satchel by Longchamp that's all girly girly in rose and beige. The canvas body features Longchamp's signature diamond-and-horse print and the handles, logo plaque, and trim (including two darling rose-shaped tassels) are done in pretty pink leather. The interior is lined in cotton/polyester blend canvas and it has a simple zip-top closure. The Kooba Hadley Leather Satchel is an attractive new bag with a rather unusual zipper placement.

At first, we thought that it was a little impractical, albeit pretty, to put a horizontal zipper across the middle of a double-top-handled satchel. Then, we realized the side zipper doesn't open the bag; it's actually just to a side pocket, and there is another zipper on top of the bag. Whew! It's actually win-win.

This 12"W X 6½"H X 4"D bag is made of soft white leather and features art-deco-esque triangular stitching, goldtone hardware, and purple imported Italian fabric lining. This sky blue canvas bag is covered in a beautifully executed lace print, which calls forth images of black lace gloves and vintage wallpaper. The blacks and blues are subtly adjoined with gunmetal hardware, which completes this icy cool look.

This is the perfect girly bag for hose of you who cringe when the pastels of summer arrive. It's sexed-up good-girl, like Olivia Newton John at the end of Grease, but without all the grind dancing.

A lovely, comfy looking day bag, the Taylor Satchel by Botkier comes in brown or sand pearl lambskin. The monochrome color scheme makes for a slightly understated appearance but the pintucks with tonal topstitching that run down the sides and end in pretty little tassels bring a solid dose of style. Simple, classic style. The kind of style that says "I'm practical and maybe a little serious most of the time, but I'm not without a fun side."
