Why Ms. Minkoff, what a saucy name for your satchel! The Rebecca Minkoff Morning-After Mini Satchel is great for the morning after, true, but we think we'd carry it around all day.

First of all, we love this pick-me-up shade of blue (it's called "Deep Turquoise" and thankfully it's not at the green end of that color range). We can't think of a person who wouldn't be flattered by this color -- wouldn't this look great with your hair? We bet it would.

The shape is simple and attractive; we love the boxy look. At 8 1/2"H x 13"W x 7"D, it's not big enough for your portfolio, but it is big enough for your toothbrush and a change of ... socks (nudge nudge wink wink).

Angel Jackson has done it again. This sister-run design house we recently interviewed (Angel Jackson - Coming to America At Last!) has designed the gorgeous satchel above exclusively for Selfridges.

The British Union Jack never seems to go out of style, and this one is seriously disco-fied -- just look at those sequins, the studs, the goldtone hardware! The lining of this 19cm by 24cm satchel is leather, and better still? It's super-exclusive. Only 50 of this Angel Jackson masterpiece have been made, and it can be purchased only from Selfridges for approximately $418.00.

Don't feel like paying international shipping rates? The plain snakeskin version of the jack satchel will be in Intermix stores stateside. (Almost as cool.)

Gunmetal Zuma Satchel, Handbag of the Day

This is one of those bags that I both love and hate at the same time. I love that it's so slouchy and distressed, and I love the uniqueness of the knots in the design, but I hate that it looks like it was slopped together in some kind of emergency or something. It's the Zuma Satchel by Michael Kors, shown here in gunmetal, and there isn't much else to say about this one other than it has silvertone hardware, a double-zip top, and a hanging logo tag (which makes it look a little like luggage I think). $995

This Allen Medium Satchel by Halston looks like a smaller bag was eaten by a larger bag but put up a good fight. Slouchy black leather sides and straps (looks more like charcoal gray to me) combine with black suede side panels and silver stud details that look like a sprinkling of stars on a dark night sky. A very casual but chic style in classic colors and materials for a trendy look that doesn't scream too loud. Studded shoulder rest on the strap, a zip-top closure, and a matching lined interior with pocket round out the design. $2,195

BCBGMAXAZRIA Femme Fatale Leather Satchel, Handbag of the Day

The BCBGMAXAZRIA Femme Fatale Leather Satchel is an attractive bag, whether you like orange or not. And I don't.

Still, I can't deny the allure of this shape, which appears as though it's just barely contained by its wraparound band. The pleats may look clumsy bu they're actually just relaxed; this is soft, buttery leather. We love the signature hardware details and secure zip-top with double handles.

The lining may be cotton, the size may be a bit large at13½"W X 11"H X 5"D, and most importantly: the color may be orange,but this is a perfectly respectable and relatively inexpensive bag that would add endless kick to your sharpest grey work ensemble or blue jeans at brunch.

Salvatore Ferragamo Gancio Esotico Pouffle Satchel, Handbag of the Day

The Salvatore Ferragamo Gancio Esotico Pouffle Satchel is an everyday bag for an extraordinary woman.

It doesn't come cheap -- this brown wild Indonesian python and rich Italian leather beauty will cost you almost $3,000. And sorry, Californians, as you probably know, python can't be shipped to you.

The bag has an easy elegance with its equestrian-style details atop its generous heap of python skin. We especially love the brassy-finished nickel hardware, making this bag appropriate with gold or silver jewelry.

This satchel would go just as well with jeans as an LBD (brown and black is okay this year), and at 9"H x 17 1/2"W x 4 1/2"D, it's large enough to take you from day to night with no trouble.

Look at the side buckles! We love this bag.

Valentino Vertigo Satchel, Handbag of the Day

The Valentino Vertigo Satchel is an excellent, demure purse with a lot of character.

This red nappa leather bag is artfully pleated and folded into a basic shape -- with the effect of looking anything but basic. This is one of those bags you can carry with absolutely anything, and it's okay if you do, because nappa leather looks better with a little wear.

We love the dainty goldtone hardware, the double zipper top, and the generous size (11"H X 13 1/2"W X 6 1/2"D). It's rare to find a purse this large with this level of detail that doesn't look overdone. We have a feeling this new Valentino will be selling out quickly.

L.A.M.B. Hawke Ceylon Satchel, Handbag of the Day

New from the impossibly versatile Gwen Stefani, the L.A.M.B. Hawke Ceylon Satchel is bright and bold with an unusual color pairing: beigey-gold and fire engine red.

L.A.M.B. is actually becoming known for odd-and-off-color choices, as well as expertly made, sturdy bags with great lines. We love the sporty double stripe down the middle, and the way the piping on the sides curves like the heel of a tennis shoe. It's rare to see a bag this bold that would dress down so perfectly.

To dress this bag up, we recommend removing the shoulder strap (it looks better without it anyway) and pairing this with an outfit that incorporates neither color -- preferably white or a neutral shade (it would look a little Hot Topic with black). Got patent red shoes? This is the bag with which to wear them, and don't skimp on the red lipstick, either.

Nothing like a big dose of bright red to catch some eyes and make a statement! Tod's G-Bag Bauletto Piccolo Satchel looks like red patent leather in these photos but it's really coated canvas -- which makes it lighter on both you and your wallet. There is leather in the form of contrasting brown trim and double handles that are adjustable via buckles. Other details include zip-top closure and a wide opening, little metal feet on the bottom, and a dark brown nylon lining. $850

'Estelle' Leather Satchel, Handbag of the Day

This 'Estelle' leather satchel by Versace is so cute and so sleek at the same time -- I didn't even know that was really possible until now. It must be the combination of slick black leather and ruched poofiness that does it for me, plus of course it has silver hardware (always my preference over gold) and contrast stitching for even more personality. Two exterior side pockets and the big Medusa emblem on the front make the whole silhouette a little reminiscent of a woman's cinched in waist and big hips. Or maybe that's just me. $2,645

Lockheart Avant Garden Satchel, Handbag of the Day

We've loved Lockheart awhile, and we love this Avant Garden Satchel.

Desginers Jennifer Tash and Trang Huynh (who created Isabella Fiore) describe themselves as "flea market junkies, treasure hunters, and compulsive tinkerers." You can really see those influences in the Avant Garden Satchel.

Statement bags like this are hard to pull off, but extravagant leather detailing, which we have come to expect from Lockheart, never fails to impress. These bags just get better with age -- as the leather softens and shows wear, they look lived in, comfortable, and very classic.

This richly textured satchel is just 11"W x 7"H x 7"D, and is the perfect plump, purple plum colored accessory for a day in the park.

The Lockheart Avant Garden Satchel is available from Nordstom for $450.00.
