Sands Point Contemporary, Estate of the Day

Most of the time I choose a home to show you based on the design of the home itself but I wanted to highlight this one based on the current owner's art collection. The home itself is a contemporary white and glass box in Sands Point, New York with 288' of sandy beach on Long Island Sound. The many glass windows and walls make sure you get great views of the outside scenery but in its current state it's much more fun to check out the interior of this six-bedroom home. It is packed with what looks to be several different art collections. The home's boxy design lends itself to being an art gallery with blockbuster ocean views. It is listed at $9.75 million.

Arden Hill, Estate of the Day

The last mansion designed by H.T. Lindeberg that I looked at as an estate of the day had a vintage charm similar to this one but has a more formal charm. The home, in Sands Point, New York, sits behind a gated entry and approached by a long private drive, Arden Hill has almost six acres which includes hedges, a fountain and a pool and pool house. Inside the spaces are grand with hand-painted wall coverings and beautiful moldings and arches. As with many houses dating back from the 1920s, some rooms have been brought up to today's blander standards. In particular, the kitchen has had a complete charmectomy. It's a very functional modern beige space but I do wonder about the before. At least the massive stone fireplace remains. This home is listed at $9.9 million.

Sands Point, Estate of the Day

Can it be true that we haven't visited Sands Point for an estate of the day since May? Let's rectify that by taking a look at this huge over 12,000 square foot home in the pricey New York town. This eight-bedroom home sits on nearly three acres and has beautiful water views. The exterior is a rather standard Mediterranean but the interior reveals a bizarre fantasy of luxury. This is the first time I have ever seen a ceiling that is both muraled and coffered (and not once but twice). The home has a massive indoor pool, beautiful glass seating area. It is listed at $15.9 million. After the jump, a glass sitting room with a fabulous view.

La Bella Villa, Estate of the Day

For today's estate we are going back to Sands Point, New York, where we have spotted so many posh homes that today's selection is nearly modest by comparison. This latest from Daniel Gale is10 Hill Road,  which is also known as La Bella Villa. This expansive home was built just a few years ago. This five-bedroom home is a bit of an architectural mishmash but it does have some delicious luxury touches include a cushy home theater and library with plenty of room for all your books.  There is an outdoor pool and cabana for entertaining and the kitchen is a gray dream done in stainless steel and granite. It is listed at $11.9 million. After the jump, let's play counting the inlaid flooring details...
