Sandals Picks Up A Four Seasons Resort

The recently-closed Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay in the Bahamas will have a new life as a Sandals Resort. The property will be the 14th Sandals Resort in the Caribbean and the third in the Bahamas. The 500-acre property has a Greg Norman golf course and a marina. The resort closed in May after being in receivership and will re-open next January. It will be given some Sandals-style amenities including a new pool complex with a swim-up bar and additional restaurants. The resort occupies an enviable swath of white sand on Emerald Bay and has 190 rooms. The marina has 133 slips and can accommodate yachts up to 300 feet in length. It seems like a good deal for Sandals, they've acquired a great resort at what was probably a very good price.

Swarovski Embellished Sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti

Swarovski Sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti
Wow. I'm not sure where to start. Sort of a glamour meets goth look going on here, and although the cutout sides, peep toes, and jagged edges complete with silver and black Swarovski crystal embellishments is sure to be eye catching the bright purple interior that adds so much in this photo is unfortunately for your eyes only, as it doesn't show when the shoe is being worn. An interesting and truly "fierce" addition to your stiletto collection, this Swarovski Sandal by Giuseppe Zanotti goes for $1,150.

Lizzie Lou's Crystal Flip Flops

Summer is in full swing and although in some stores fall shoes are already starting to make an appearance in my opinion it's never too late to buy a great new pair of sandals. I tend to wear flip flops anywhere and everywhere that they're even remotely socially acceptable, which means I have a closet full of them and am always on the lookout for new cute designs. These handmade versions by Lizzie Lou Shoes are on the upscale side of the flip flop family tree, featuring comfy EVA soles, real leather straps, and lots of pretty Swarovski crystal and semi-precious stone embellishments. Prices range from $107-$123/pair.

And if you missed them before, we covered these other Swarovski flip flops earlier this month.

Swarovski Crystal Embellished Flip Flops - Small Splurge

Swarovski Crystal Embellished Flip Flops - Small SplurgeYou can buy simple, classic flip flops anywhere these days, from Target, to Kmart, to mall stores. But wouldn't you rather have Swarovski crystals on your flip flops? If you think yes, and are willing to spend a bit to make it what we like to call a small splurge, you need Deborah Evans's crystal embellished footwear.

Evans has blinged up three lines, using Havaianas from Brazil as the base: Resort, a 3/4-inch soled sandal available in 13 colors ($130); Metallic, a 3/4-inch soled sandal available in 5 colors ($98); and High Wedge, a 2-1/2-inch wedge sandal available in 4 colors ($185). These come in basic colors like black, brown and white.

For more pizzazz, you need the D-Street line, which is made from Evans's own line of rubber sandals, but still has the crystals and comes in 2 styles: the Street, a 3/4-inch soled sandal available in 15 fun colors/patterns, including animal prints ($120); and the Mini-Wedge, 1-1/2-inch soled sandal available in 15 even brighter colors, but luckily still in animal prints ($150).

Miu Miu Crystal-Heel Sandals

These Crystal-Heel Sandals by Miu Miu invoke a sort of old-time "gold and riches" type glam thanks to plenty of glitzy over-sized crystals that look as if they've been pressed onto the shoes' heels while they were covered in molten gold. Other than that the shoe is pretty classic in design, featuring shimmery gold metallic leather in a T-strap sandal with an ankle strap that buckles on one side. A lovely summer statement for those who just can't help but want an extra shot of bling. $695

Omelle Luxury Footwear

Omelle makes some of the most unusual footwear I've seen. The Spring/Summer '09 collection has some basics for those who us who teeter in heels (low-heeled sandals) as well as more upscale styles, perfect for the big summer party where you want to impress. For the warmer nights where you still want a boot for style, there is this combo that mixes a boot and a sandal.

Made with exotic skins and leather, and sometimes adorned with ribbons, Omelle's shoes are available on its own site as well as at shopbop.com. Sizes are European, and prices start in the high $400 range. Get shopping, then get a pedicure, pronto!

P.S. Every pair comes with a reusable Bow Bag, taking the place of tissue in the boxes. You also can buy it separately for $50.

Betsey Johnson Harley Heels

Betsey Johnson's style is unique, edgy and unexpected to say the least. So its a little surprising to see how tame the Harley Sandals are. They feature a funky mix of dark and light floral prints and a cork heel which will add some extra padding and comfort. The skinny ankle strap and dainty bow at the toe instantly adds a flirty and feminine feel to any spring dress. Price: $175.

Giuseppe Zanotti's Christmas Shoe

One man's restraint is a another man's excess. Case in point the new limited edition shoe design from Guiseppe Zanotti. Vogue UK refers to the shoe as being "stripped back to basics." I suppose that's true if you consider a 1.5-inch chrome platform a 5.5-inch heel and and an elaborate foot harness decorated with studs and Swarovski crystals basic. These shoes certainly would pep up last year's little black dress for holiday parties. You can get your own at Giuseppe Zanotti boutiques on December 1 when the shoes go on sale for a cool £890.

Bottega Veneta has been making exclusive high quality couture since the early 1960's. With a four inch heel, gold hardware and python straps these sandals aren't cheap, they retail for $1,170 and based on their popularity nobody seems to mind!

D & G Round-Toe Flats

Dolce & Gabbana is an Italian based fashion house famous for its trend setting designs. These unique and playful D&G flats caught my attention, they remind me of the jelly sandals I had in the 80s! Available in eye catching shades, bright pink, lime green, turquoise, or violet and made of satin, it's hard to pick a favorite. Available for $485 on the Neiman Marcus website where any shoe purchase over $200 entitles you to a butterfly shoe bag.

Cobra Hired To Guard Jeweled Sandals

In today's age of motion and touch sensors and every other kind of high-tech gadget we've got for security of precious goods, Harrods in London recently took a unique step to protect a pair of very expensive shoes: they hired a poisonous cobra to stand (sit? slither?) guard.

Obviously this was a publicity stunt, not a real security effort, but I say good for them. That's pretty clever, and for all intents and purposes it worked. The cobra has since returned to its owner and the shoes are, I'm sure, under a more traditional lock and key type security system.

Curious what kind of shoes warranted such a show? A pair of red sandals by Rene Caovilla that are encrusted with rubies, sapphires, and diamonds and valued at about $120,000.

Bruno Frisoni Stiletto Patent Sandal

Yow! (as my husband would say) these Stiletto Heels by Bruno Frisoni are sexy! And maybe part "lady of the night-ish" with its gold toned spiked heels. But I would totally try to make them reflect a sense of sex appeal rather than reflect a sense of accepting cash for services. Probably more appropriate for evening affairs, if worn during the day, these Frisoni's Stiletto Sandals would certainly upgrade the typical jeans and cute top ensemble. Price: $595.
