Holiday Shoes at Delman - and a Luxist Preview of Spring!

Delman's Holiday 2010 Shoes
It's time to start curating your holiday wardrobe. There are a lot of beautiful trends to follow for this season's holiday parties, including the classic "sparkle" for which some of us wait all year. Before you let time get away from you and start hearing "we're out of your size," check out the above downright fabulous Elan High Heel Sandals from Delman. They're fresh, demure, feminine and wearable well into spring -- after all, they're open-toe!

The Elan High Heel Sandals come in Silver Hologram, Gold Metallic Fabric with Hologram Effect and Black Moire, and feature Italian fabric, padded insoles and a 4" heel. We'd love to see the silver with a grey dress, creating a perfect monotone look, or the gold with a textured dress of some kind, as it has the structure and sparkle to steal the show if not paired with something bold (not that that would be a tragedy).

The Elan High Heel Sandals, as well as some other great holiday finds, are available from Delman for $250.00. And, for those of you who want to think ahead, check out this preview of our favorites from the Resort and Spring collections!

Nicholas Kirkwood x Rodarte Wrap Candle Sandal

A stickler for uniqueness and outrageousness, the Mulleavy sisters don't disappoint when it came to their collaboration with famed shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood. Case in point – the Wrap Candle Sandal ($1605). The name is playful and fun to say and the shoes exude that same good natured spirit and quirkiness.

These vibrantly hued heels will not disappoint if you're looking for a pair of showstoppers. There is so much going here - the juxtaposition of various colors, patterns and textures that initially don't appear to blend well together but somehow become a cohesive mix. And of course the pièce de résistance- the melted candle wrap heel. It puts the perfect punctuation on Rodarte and Kirkwood's "look at me!" heels.

Lanvin Python Sandal

I first came across Lanvin's Python Sandals during the Fall/Winter 2010 runway show and fell in love. Now that I found them for purchase I'm beside myself with excitement. Unfortunately with a price tag of $2175, I won't be purchasing them anytime soon but I'm sure for those who can afford it are going to thoroughly enjoy them.

Lanvin's Sandals are made with jet black python with cut outs at the vamp and near the ankle resulting in a super sexy, undercover devilish look. Python provides these sexy heels with texture and natural adornments against a very dark color. No need to add anything else. If you wanted to highlight Lanvin's Sandals sex appeal, wear with a skirt, dress or even shorts (with tights) and show off your legs. But these could work just as well with straight or wide leg trousers or jeans for a subtle sexy look. Heel measurement: 4 1/2" with a 1" platform.

Bionda Castana Open Toed Boots

Set in smoky blue grey leather and minimally accented with suede, Bionda Castana's Open Toed Sandals ($689) are unassuming yet fashionably versatile. Its neutral palette lends itself to be complementary to a wide variety of colorful or monochromatic outfits. Skirts, dresses, slim pants and jeans or wide leg trousers would all look great.

Castana's Sandals feature a back zip closure to easily slip on. Along the vamp is a window paned-esque detail that if paired with color tights or socks would make for an unexpected twist to an otherwise serene shoe.

Sigerson Morrison Carnica Sandals

You just can't beat a pair of neutral colored heels. The versatility and long lasting appeal is a worthy investment for your any woman's wardrobe. They become even more appealing when accented with intertwining straps all long the vamp for a seductive look.

The Carnica Sandals ($455) by Sigerson Morrison can be paired with a wide spectrum of looks - from the casual to the most dressy and still maintain an understated sex appeal. This sandal has a 4" heel giving you height and a zippered back to make it easy to put on and remove.

Alexander Wang Devon Booties

Cutting edge and trend setting designer Alexander Wang has done it again. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers. In addition to loving his Bucket Bag, I absolutely love his Devon Sandals ($525)! Its eye catching selling point is the embossed lizard print which beautifully sets these open toed booties apart from the rest. There's suede along the back and part of the heel which works well to compliment a minimal yet adventurous looking shoe. And the color is ideal. Grey acts as an understated and versatile color palette to work from while the lizard print and suede add an extra punch. For the trendsetters, the Devon can effortlessly transition from summer into fall by adding tights or socks – but given the unpredictable weather I do think these can work well into the Fall without them. Heel measurements: 4 1/2".

Jean Paul Gaultier Slingbacks

Upgrade your worn-out sandals and check out Jean Paul Gaultier's playful pair. Retail shops and magazines may be visually enticing it's customers to purchase a new wardrobe for back to school (which I have already fallen victim to for my daughter) and the Fall season. But, the weather across the US has us thinking that Summer is going to last longer than usual and Fall has a long way to go before it actually arrives. All the more reason to improve your sandal collection and buy a new pair that will last till the weather changes.

Gaultier's camel colored sandals ($437) have a punchy hint of yellow along the vamp and wrapping around your ankle which perfectly sets off an otherwise subdued and unassuming shoe. What a simple detail that has impact! Another feature that I love but no one will ever really see is the pink and beige striped sole. I love when designers pay attention to detail and really think about every part of a product to make it complete. And even though you have a colorful strip of yellow, these stylish sandals will match virtually any outfit your wear.

Nina Critia Sandals

Wouldn't these Nina sandals be perfect for a sunny summer wedding? Whether you're the bride wearing a free flowing long chiffon dress, a bridesmaid or a wedding guest, the Critia Sandals ($80) would be ideal. They exude a softness and charm by using a single oversized flower as its focal point and only adornment. The heel is only 3 1/2 inches so they'll offer you a little bit of height and comfort throughout the day. Even if you aren't getting married or attending a wedding anytime soon, the Critia Sandals are also available in a wide range of eye popping candy colors, like fuschia luster, ruby and grape, so you can wear to any special event.

Lanvin Denim Pom Pom Espadrille And Other Summer Denim Shoes

lanvin denim pom pomThere is an everlasting and classic appeal to denim that is undeniable. It's easy to wear and matches anything that you already own. You can dress it up with heels and bold jewelry or wear casually with a pair of flats or sneakers. Denim is also versatile and has a wide range of uses. We've seen denim used for shirts, jackets, vests, jumpsuits, dresses, bags and of course, shorts. At one point in my life I've worn denim in every which way you can imagine. But I can't say that I've ever worn or wanted to wear denim shoes before - until I came across Lanvin's Pom Pom Espadrille ($319). They have the comfort of a flat sole with a slight cushion mixed with a quirky but ultra cute denim pom pom at the vamp. They are a unexpected and fun alternative to ballet flats that can be paired with a maxi dress, shorts, or even a little romper. See below for other denim shoes that will carry you throughout the seasons.

Yosi Samra Gladiator Sandals

Sandals are a definite summer staple. With a range of colors, playful designs and trendy accents to choose from, they're a welcomed alternative to flip flops and ballet flats. It's exciting when we come across a pair that is both fashionable and affordable; especially given the fact that sandals have a limited wear time. So I say, "Thank you Yosi Samra Sandals".

The designers behind Yosi Samra offer 3 different styles at only $98 – Studded Gladiator Flats, Cutout Flats and Studded T Flats. Each style is made of leather with a zippered back and gold accents on the heel topped off with intricate cut outs to create unique sandals that add an unexpected twist to your casual summer attire. My personal favorites are the one featured above - the Studded Gladiator Flats - which playfully uses geometric shapes to create cut outs that have a resemblance to spider webs, making them unforgettable. They're also available in a metallic champagne, which would look great against sun kissed skin and darker skin tones. View the gallery below for additional sandals.

Pollini Leather Peep Toe Sandals

pollini leather peep toe sandals With a variety of accents to grab your attention, these Peep Toe Sandals by Pollini ($677) are chic for the summer. Fashioned in mauve leather (which looks white in the photograph) it has a super high and chunky heel (over 5 inches!) with a platform sole that measures a little over 1 inch. There are cut out details along the side and the vamp, with a side buckle that seamlessly flows into a curvy Z shape. And to top it all off, the double tassels are made with patent leather adding an unexpected and flirty twist.

Gianmarco Lorenzi Flower Sandals

Gianmarco Lorenzi Flower Sandals
Looking more like a piece of art than a shoe you could wear, The Satin Flower Platform Sandals by Gianmarco Lorenzi ($978) are beautiful. The little Beyonce/Mariah Carey in me is just dying to wear these somewhere – anywhere! With an electric blue as the backdrop, the large satin and beaded flower takes center stage and immediately grabs your attention. As though the oversized flower wasn't bold enough, the blue-green cut out mega platform gives more height than you have ever dreamed of.

Kooba Launches Footwear

Kooba Mae
It's no secret that Luxist loves Kooba handbags. We've featured their slouchy, sleek, sophisticated bags as our Handbag of the Day numerous times (click here for Kooba bags we love). As you might imagine, we were overjoyed to hear the brand has lauched a footwear line for Spring 2010.

The Kooba footwear collection, which hit stores this month, is comfortable and chic, encapsulating the effortless glamour which first enchanted us. The Brazil-made collection of wedges and flats incorporates details like python-printed leather, studs and intricate buckles and runs $225 to $385. As for the future, a fall collection is already in the works and will include season-friendly styles like boots and clogs.

Shoes like the Kooba Mae (above, $295) are available from Kooba.com, Zappos.com and Endless.com, as well as many of the boutiques where you already shop Kooba.
