I'm a sucker for a
good yacht donation story. The classic
sailing vessel shown here, The Ring-Andersen, was recently donated to the Virginia
Maritime Heritage Foundation. The Ring-Andersen was originally built as a cargo ship in 1948 but was refitted as a
sailing yacht. The ship which has been appraised at $3.2 million was given by an anonymous donor. The ship, which as
been used as a charter vessel in the past, may end up being sold within the next few years to provide income for the
foundation. For now, the ships is moored in the Elizabeth River next to the schooner, Virginia. The Ring-Andersen
may be sold again in a couple of years in order to raise funds for an endowment to provide income for the foundation.Filed under: Yachts & Sailing
One of my crush yachts, the 174-foot sailing yacht Drumbeat has hit the market. The beautiful yacht which has raced in the Rolex
Transatlantic Challenge and is built for speed can hit up to 23 knots. She also has five guest staterooms, marble
bathrooms and a surprising amount of light and space for a racing yacht. The yacht formerly known as Salperton was
built in 2002 and extensively refitted in 2005. This beauty can be yours for 25 million euros.
