At first this one didn't do it for me, too much white and beige, especially for San Francisco, which often lends itself to the quirky and colorful. Not a bad place but not one that inspired home lust. But then I saw that penthouse room. This is the place to be, a large expanse of open space that would be ideal for parties. The home, on Russian Hill, has decent views from the lower levels but it is the top floor that truly dazzles, with views that include the Golden Gate bridge, the Palace of Fine Arts and the bay. The home is designed with staff quarters/office space on the bottom level, dining room, living room and kitchen on the main level, two bedrooms and a sunroom on the third level. The next level given over to the master suite and a master study. The master level has built-in library shelving and the master bedroom is also media-ready with a pull-down screen. The spa-like master bath, includes marble stonework, a two-person shower, bidet and a Jacuzzi tub with a view. This home is listed at $5.85 million.

This home on Russian Hill in San Francisco is a new build on a plot of land that lends itself to dramatic bridge, bay and city views. The home has four levels with two elevators for easy access. Other details include a gourmet kitchen, wine room, library, office and six bedrooms total. There is also a four car garage and tiered garden on the property. Not exactly the most innovative design we've ever seen but the views alone make up for the home's charm deficiency. It is listed at $11.75 million. After the jump, breakfast by the bay.

Kate Spade Russian Hill Maya, Handbag of the Day

She wore blue velvet... and could have carried a bag very similar to the Kate Spade Russian Hill Maya, which is an understated velvet bag in midnight blue. The shape of the purse is derived from a classic knitting bag, with an expandable bottom and gathered top, though Spade's version has wood handles and snakeskin trim on the tab closure. The bag, though it appears to be small in the photo, actually measures 11.6"h x 19.7"w x 4.3"d and is very roomy. It has a satin dot lining, and multiple interior pockets to keep your things well organized. It won't be available until September 1st, but it is available for preorder at $425.
