Laurence Fishburne is the New Voice of Cadillac

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

He may be best known for his role as Morpheus in the Matrix movie trilogy, but Laurence Fishburne is about to become attached to another franchise: Cadillac.

The American luxury automaker has just announced a new deal with the actor to become the face and (extraordinarily deep) voice of the brand. The campaign entitled "Red-Blooded Luxury" will kick off on January 1 with a commercial aired during the Rose Bowl.

Cadillac vehicles – including the CTS sedan and Escalade SUV – were incidentally used in the filming of Matrix movies, Fishburne's character alternately riding in and blowing them up. The commercials will presumably be kinder to GM's luxury offerings.

Los Angeles Concours d'Elegance

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Events

Los Angeles is finally getting its own Concours d'Elegance. The inaugural event will be held at the Rose Bowl and will feature over 250 classic, vintage, antique and exotic vehicles that will be judged on Sunday, May 21, 2006. There will also be 100 specialty and competition vehicles of all types. General admission is $25 (VIP tickets are $75) and proceeds benefit the programs of the Assistance League of Southern California. I can't resist a concours so close to my house so I'll be there and will return with pictures and video of the event.

Waterford Texas Longhorns Football

Continuing our school spirit theme, if you yelled "Hook 'em, Horns" during the Rose Bowl, Waterford has a crystal foot ball for you. The University of Texas Longhorn 2005 Rose Bowl football is a limited edition of 10,000 pieces. It's a little bit heavier than the Waterford baseballs we have seen and sells for $185.

Tournament of Roses Embossed Roses

Here in Southern California, the Tournament of Roses parade and Rose Bowl game are a big deal. If you are an obsessed fan but not into painting your face, you could always carry these flowers from Speaking Roses. The company is producing fresh, silk and preserved roses embossed with the official logos of the Tournament of Roses, the University of Texas, and the University of Southern California, who will compete in the Rose Bowl for the 2006 NCAA national championship. Adozen fresh roses sells for just under $100.
