The Private Cloud

This looks like such an awesome bed! I absolutely love rocking chairs because they're so relaxing, and this Private Cloud bed looks like it would have much the same vibe. Besides the obvious "floating on a cloud" feeling you must get when in the bed, its open and expansive design conveys airy floating elements of the clouds when looking at the bed also. It's sure to make almost any room feel bigger and more open.

I do wonder, though, how easily it rocks. It might be nice to feel a little sway here and there as you reposition during the night, but if you're married do you have to be careful how you get up in the morning? You know, so you don't set it off rocking like crazy and make your poor spouse seasick?

Jimi Hendrix Boots Up For Auction

They may not look like much but these suede-fringed boots could be worth over $20,000. That's because they were worn on stage by iconic rock musician Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix was nearly as famous for his sartorial style as for his amazing guitar skills. The boots were worn by Hendrix onstage at Golden Gate Park on June 27, 1967 and will be part of Heritage's upcoming Music & Entertainment Auction, to be held April 4-6, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. The auction lot includes photographic documentation.

Smile Recliner

I think I like this Smile recliner more just because it has such a cheerful name, plus the design brings to mind visions of breezy summer days relaxing in a hammock. Created by David Trubridge, the Smile recliner is made to rock (obviously) and is suitable for indoors or out. Although not probably something good to have around children (it looks a little too tempting to try and rock over), this looks perfect to me for an open or enclosed porch, preferably by the seashore (I wish!). A fitted futon cushion is optional, as is an oil finish.

Dinosaur Fossil for Charity

It may look like an ordinary rock, but this rock is actually the fossilized cast of a dinosaur brain and the closest you can get to a real dinosaur brain without buying an island and making your own Jurassic Park. The rare fossil, discovered in Sussex, is 135 million years old and shows "finely preserved impressions of nerves blood vessels and other soft tissue" from the brain of an Iguanodon. The auction entry suggests that it would make a great piece for a museum looking to expand their collection, though it would certainly be a conversation starter for a private home. The bidding starts at £50,000 and 60% of the final sale price will support Children's Brain Tumour Research Center.

Love Sells Nirvana's Music

Courtney Love, the rock singer and widow of Kurt Cobain, has sold 25 percent of Nirvana's music library to Primary Wave Music Publishing. Though their entire catalog does not have an exact monetary value, Courtney reportedly banked $50 million for the sale of the rights. Love has closely guarded the rights to the 98% of the band's library since she inherited it upon the death of her husband, the Nirvana front man, in 1994. His former band-mates own a mere 2% of the collection, including some of the band's most famous works, like Smells like Teen Spirit.

In and out of rehab, as well as prison, for the past several years, it is likely that she decided to sell this share of Nirvana's music to cover some of her legal costs, since her money problems are well known, though she said she found managing her entire estate "overwhelming."

KISS Plans "Elegant" Fragrance Line

You would think the day for this had long since passed but according to WWD, KISS is coming out with a fragrance line. The band signed a deal with Gemini Cosmetics to do men's and women's scents.  What does KISS smell like? The scents are going to be elegant, sexy and emblazoned with the KISS logo. The article quotes band member Paul Stanley as saying that "this is the fragrance for people who dare to be like KISS — not fans of KISS." Stanley also recently designed a guitar line and says the band is working on an apparel line.
