Ritmo Mundo Carnival 242 Lady's Watch Review

Ritmo Mundo Carnival 242 Lady's Watch Review
While this watch is bold, it is actually one of Ritmo Mundo's less bold timepiece collections - trying to be a combo look of both a sport and fashion watch. For women, this colorful version of the Carnival line comes in a host of colors mixed with the white silicone strap and the mother-of-pearl dial. The official name of the collection is the Carnival 242. This version has purple Arabic hour numerals, hands, and a purple inner case. Other versions can be found in tones such as pink, orange, green, red, and more.

The case is large for many feminine wrists at 43mm in width, but that goes along with the brand's larger than life personality. The dial is easy to read and clear, and I like the metal lined numerals and MOP face. The hands probably shouldn't be skeletonized, but it isn't that bad. There is also no lume, as most sport watches have. While the inner case is plastic, it is sandwiched by hefty looking steel bezel and back with gold-toned screws. Inside the watch is a Swiss quartz movement. The watch is fun and look nice on the right type of woman. It is even large enough for men who might like the look. Execution of the design is good if you like the look but I am concerned about the retail price. Ritmo Mundo asks $500 for the Carnival 242, which in my opinion is a bit high for something with a plastic inner case and lugs and mineral crystal. With a price drop it would be a better value. Ritmo Mundo Persepolis Watches Go Gem Crazy

Ritmo Mundo Persepolis Watches Go Gem Crazy

These are like crazy colored candy - there is something almost charmingly juvenile about the look and (massive) size of these watches. A woman putting one on her wrist will feel like a girl again as the large watch dwarfs her forearm and offers an almost amusingly obnoxious display of sparkling colors. These Ritmo Mundo Persepolis models are in the "Multi-Gem" collection, but I like to call them "wild gem" watches. They have steel (and possibly other metal) cases totally covered with a variety of gem-stones. All Persepolis watches features double-sides faces that flip around in the case. The pictured model has two automatic movements that are partially skeletonized. There are also quartz models as well. Like I said, the watch is large - really large. The pictured model is over 50mm wide (try sporting that ladies). Though I think there are a few smaller versions as well. Prices for Ritmo Mundo Persepolis Multi-Gem models start at about $11,000, and go up to $45,000 for those like the above version with gems all over the dial and case.

Ritmo Mundo 314 Hercules Aluminum Watches

Fashion watches are extremely hot this summer. Everyone is trying their best to get sexy, bold, sub $1000 watches to the market as soon as possible. A tried and true formula is taking the classic diver's style watch, and emboldening it with colors for both him and her. That is exactly what Ritmo Mundo has done with the 314 Hercules collection. Instead of the much cheaper and more fragile plastic fashion diver watches out there, Ritmo Mundo makes the Hercules watches in Aluminum. Not as strong as steel, but much lighter, and less expensive than say, titanium.

At 46mm wide, the watches are large - and shiny. The aluminum cases have been done in a glossy finish in seven different colors. In addition to the above red watch, the 314 Hercules collection is available in blue, carbon (blackish), gray, pink, violet, and yellow. These colors make the watch suitable for men and women, but the overall design is more on the masculine side (I guess not in pink though). The dial is fine, but the hands are too short. This is likely due to the large size of the watch and the quartz movement used. There is a serious problem these days with hands, because quartz movements can only accommodate hands that weigh a certain amount. Larger dials mean the necessity for larger hands, and the majority of quartz movements out there can't handle the weight. I really can't wait until new quartz movements come out that can handle larger, properly sized hands.

The 314 Hercules Aluminum watches come on rubber straps with a price of $325 each. Not too bad for a summer color injection.

Ritmo Mundo Sex And The City Watch Collection

Ritmo Mundo Sex And The City Watch
Sex and the City continues to live on in the hearts of women long after the show has ended. My personal opinion is that Sex and the City is one of those pop culture anomalies that seems to appeal to almost every woman - a true tie that binds. Watch maker Ritmo Mundo partnered with HBO for an official Sex and the City watch. The rectangular shaped case comes in four varieties - one for each of the characters. Ritmo Mundo apparently does not specify which timepiece goes with whom, so it is up to you to decide what Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, or Miranda would wear. Ritmo Mundo calls them: Cappuccino, Purple, Rainbow, or Silver Rose Gold.

The watch is 28mm wide and 41mm tall - a good feminine size. Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA F0311A7 quartz movement. Style reminisces the Franck Muller Long Island range of watches in shape and numeral font style. Ritmo Mundo adds some additional style such as textured or mother-of-pearl dials. Included on the dial is the official Sex and the City logo. Hard to determine how well the watches fit with the character of the show but they are attractive and very feminine timepieces that most women should enjoy. Retail price is $650 each.
