Mo Eden Digit Timepiece Ring

Filed under: Jewelry, Timepieces / Watches

You don't need to be limited to the wrist when wishing to wear something to display the time - and I am not just talking about pocket watches. Alternative options include pendants and rings. Watch rings have been around for a while, but never cease to fascinate me. I really want to see how people pull these off. A new ring watch is the Mo Eden "Digit." This model is the #26 - most of them are custom made for the customers.

This model is done in 18k white gold and is covered in diamonds. There is a sapphire crystal that is facet cut over the dial which allows you to see the watch face easily. You can get the Digit rings with various colors stones and styles. Mo Eden will make the watch with a quartz movement or a small manually wound mechanical movement. Price for the Digit # 26 is about $16,000.

Tiffany & Co. Makes San Francisco Giants World Series Ring

Tiffany & Co. has produced the World Series championship rings for the San Francisco Giants. While they won the MLB World Series in 2010, the baseballs stars are only now getting their rings now. Previously they were given inexpensive "decoy" rings - which was seen as a joke.

With the start of a new baseball season the team now gets their ring. Plus, one extra ring was made that will be raffled-off by the Giants for charity. The Tiffany & Co. made World Series ring is everything a star athlete could hope for. The ring is mostly in 18k white gold, with some yellow gold accents. It has 77 diamonds on it, which are placed in various spots on the ring. There is about 1 carat worth of stones. The top of the ring has the San Francisco Giant's "SF" logo, surrounded by the statement "World Champions." On one side (shank) of the ring is a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge with "2010." The other shank will have the name of the ring recipient engraved on it.

Really a nice ring overall and very handsome. This is the first ever ring Tiffany & Co. has made for the MLB World Series. Though Tiffany & Co. has been enlisted in the past to create championship rings for other sports such as football.

As mentioned, Tiffany & Co. has produced one extra San Francisco Giants World Championship ring that will be raffled-off to support the Giants Community Fund. The raffle for the SF Giants championship ring can be found here, and will last until July 26, 2011. As I am in San Francisco I can freely say, "Go Giants!" And thanks Tiffany.

KARA by Kara Ross Hematite Ring

The Hematite Triple Stone Ring ($250) from KARA by Kara Ross beautifully combines simplicity and a sense of uniqueness. With triple hematite stones as the sole focal point, its deep plum almost black hue is striking against a golden tone metal setting.

With such a bold look, I'd suggest giving the Hematite Triple Stone Ring complete center stage. Allow your statement ring to shine brightly without distractions of additional rings or even bracelets. A necklace and/or earrings will do just fine. Wear with a stylish casual outfit or when you're all dolled up for holiday parties for a stunning finish.

Ross' adjustable ring measures at 7/8" L x 2" W.

16 Fabulous Fall Finds from J. Crew

Filed under: Apparel, Handbags, Jewelry, Timepieces / Watches, Shoes

While I can't speak for the entire Luxist team, I have a pretty good feeling that we all love the fashion offered at J. Crew. They offer well made and long lasting basics mixed with bold statement pieces presented in such a way that you'll wear them forever. Both my husband and I have sweaters and pants that we've purchased over 4 years ago and given their timeless appeal, we're still wearing them today.

J Crew's lookbook and catalog showcase trendsetting and super fashionable ensembles, but I thoroughly enjoy putting my own personal twist to what I wear and the clothing at J. Crew allows me to do just that. After a long hot and at times unbearable summer scorcher, fall's arrival is a welcomed change. It feels relaxing to be at a comfortable body temperature and have a cool breeze pass through the air. Your daily attire can have more depth and substance rather than succumbing to heat and wearing a tank top, shorts and flip flops.

Piaget Limelight 'True' Cocktail Rings

Filed under: Jewelry, Timepieces / Watches

I am not a woman, nor do I wear rings, but I will be the first to admit these are very cool. They are so cool, I think most people will almost forget these are high-end luxury goods. From the Limelight collection by Piaget, these are a new line of cocktail rings that actually look like real cocktail drinks. And I've always wondered why they were called cocktail rings... These rings are very fun and well designed. Piaget did an excellent job replicating the look of popular cocktail drinks in jewelry.

There are six rings in this particular Limelight collection, each has a name of a drink. Seen here is the Piaget Limelight Cocktail Mojito ring. It is in 18k white gold with 182 diamonds (1.52 carats). The "drink" itself is a 24 carat cushion-cut green tourmaline, with a 3 carat citrine stone cut to look like a lime - covered with a white gold and tsavorite "peel.' The "mint leaves" are emeralds. Stunning and so creative!

Other rings in the collection are equally nice and use stones and gold applicable to the look of the drink. In addition the Limelight Cocktail Mojito, there is also the Whiskey on the Rocks, Cosmopolitan, White Tonic, Blue Ocean, and Blueberry Daiquiri. Truly charming - and will not be cheap.

World Cup Gets Official Rings

world cup pitchAt the instigation of Colombian jeweler Carlos Sotelo, the world's biggest event is borrowing inspiration from America's biggest events. For the first time ever, the World Cup will offer FIFA-sanctioned rings to the Cup's MVP, and additional rings will be available to those willing to spend from $2,500 to $250,000 for gem-encrusted souvenirs.

Sotelo and 269 jewelers are currently setting the stones on 2,010 rings for the South African tournament. The most accessible will be the 1,970 rings in gold and silver, set with emeralds, offered for $2,500. Above that are 33 white gold rings, each with 36 emeralds and South African diamonds, that will go for $70,000 each. And at the top of the pyramid are seven platinum rings, each with 200 emeralds, that will set you back a quarter of a million dollars apiece.

Sotelo ultimately wants the entire winning team to be presented with official rings, as is done for winning players in the Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA Championship, but for this year one of the gold rings will be given to the World Cup's most valuable player. Since that probably won't be you, we'd suggest taking an extra $2,500 to Johannesburg.

Mayza Joao Dancing Squares Ring

mayza joao jewelryNo, it's not a slinky that has gone mad and square. This is a ring by Brazilian designer Mayza Joao. Appropriately named the Dancing Squares Ring, its hand crafted design is refreshingly simplistic yet strikingly beautiful. With a background and an appreciation for Brazilian modern architecture, you can easily see where she draws her inspiration. By stripping away all the extra embellishments, which can sometimes take away from the beauty and craftsmanship of a piece, you're able to see how seductively the metal bends and twists out from one another to create one eye catching piece. Price: $ 1,244.

Paula Mendoza Rings are Raw, Earthy, and So Ugly They're Beautiful

Paula Mendoza RingOff balance, unexpected, and definitely meant to draw attention, raw emeralds take center stage in this collection of rings by Paula Mendoza that I stumbled across over at Vivre. Raw can describe more than just the gems, as the designs themselves evoke a very primitive and unpolished (figuratively and literally) vibe as chunks of emeralds and other gems are paired with dented and misshapen 24k gold vermeil for a results that looks almost as if it could have been pulled directly from the Earth as is.

I think they're really ugly but also quite beautiful. Very fluid and abstract. I'm a huge fan of raw gems though so that could be part of it, what do you think? $325 - $650

The Gear Ring by Kinekt

Men's wedding bands are, in essence, simplicity itself: a plain band of some precious metal or another. But some gearheads aren't inclined to embrace simplicity. They might go for a more original material, like titanium or carbon fiber, but short of repurposing a piston ring, that's about the extent of it. Until the Gear Ring came along.

Designed by Kinekt, the Gear Ring doesn't just look mechanical – it actually is. As you can see from the video after the jump, the tiny gears across the face rotate as the larger gears that form the upper and lower segments of the ring spin in opposite directions.

A fresh take on a timeless classic, or the mechanized complication of simplicity? That's a matter of taste. The ring is available for $165 directly from the designer. Follow the jump to watch a short video clip of the ring in action.

Montblanc Emblem Diamond Gold Rings

For the holiday season Montblanc presents a new jewelry item - these gold, diamond studded rings shaped like the Montblanc star emblem (you usually see it in white against black). The specific model is the Montblanc 4810 ring collection. The rings are quite clever and come in three thicknesses with varying amounts of diamonds. Materials include 18k white, yellow, or red gold - looking nice in each. Montblanc has been really trying to emphasis its jewelry and accessory collection over the last few years to bolster its already popular watch, and of course pen collections.

The Glacier Ring by Swarovski

Swarovski Glacier Ring
I'm not one for enormous jewels and gems on my jewelry (I know, call me crazy) but this Glacier Ring by Swarovski really appeals to me. Maybe it's because there is no large bling set onto a band so much as the bling is the band. Appropriately named after a mass of ice, this Swarovski crystal cocktail ring is faceted to catch both the light and the attention of your fellow party goers and is gold-plated inside for comfort. A perfect winter accessory as it evokes feelings of snow and sparkles and will coordinate with everything. £142
