Getty Costume Jewelry Up For Auction

Usually to purchase the jewels of a Getty you'd need some pretty deep pockets. But Ann Getty's collection doesn't just include precious gemstones, she also has a large collection of costume pieces, some of which are being auctioned over the weekend by Doyle New York. The collection includes pieces by Chanel, Miriam Haskell, Kenneth Jay Lane and others. And because they are costume pieces you'll be spending several hundred dollars for most pieces. The rhinestone necklace shown above is one of the pricier pieces. It was made in France in the 1950s and is estimated to sell for $750-$1,000.

Yves St. Laurent Sunglasses

Yves St. Laurent's latest sunglasses line is online and also for sale at Neiman Marcus. The sunglasses are predictably luxe, perfect for long afternoons on the deck of a yacht or for tucking into your Muse bag. My favorites of their latest collection are the two shown here. For logo lovers there are the rhinestone logo sunglasses with a sparkly version of the YSL logo. Those who prefer something a little more understated might prefer the metal loop sunglasses. The loop sunglasses are $260 and the logo-ed glasses sell for $275. The loop sunglasses are after the jump.

Bobbie Nudie, 1913-2006

Bobbie Nudie, woman who started Nudie's Rodeo Tailors, passed away last week. She and her husband, Nudie Cohn, designed clothes for celebrities from Elvis Presley to Arnold Schwarzenegger, including famous outfits like Elvis's gold lame suit, and put hundreds and thousands of rhinestones on the clothes of country singers everywhere. Their remarkable costumes, which were made to suit their motto that "it is better to be looked over than overlooked," are highly collectible today and sell for upwards of $1000 when in good condition.
