Thirteen Lamborghini Reventons Now Available on JamesList

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Back in March 2009 Reuters was astonished to report that seven out of the 20 ultra-exclusive Lamborghini Reventon supercars in the world were being offered for sale on a single website, global online luxury marketplace JamesList. Exactly one year later we can reveal that number has nearly doubled to 13, meaning that 65% of the total Reventons in existence are now available on the one site. Prices for the 650 hp beauties range from $1.4 million - $2 million with cars on offer located in the U.S., U.K., UAE, Germany and Switzerland. Perhaps the guy who just bought 10 Aston Martin One-77s will snatch up the lot. Meanwhile, JamesList also has listings for 4 out of the 15 recently unveiled Reventon Roadsters, which are even more exclusive than the original.

Lamborghini: Future Models to Reduce Weight, Emissions and Horsepower

How much horsepower is enough? While we're fairly certain some might be answering that rhetorical question with raised eyebrows (too much is never enough?), Lamborghini is seemingly content with a number just shy of 700 raging horses bulls. That doesn't mean that the Italian supercar manufacturer won't continue its unabated push towards ever-quicker acceleration – though top speeds higher than 211 miles per hour sound unlikely – but there's clearly more than one way to skin a cat Prancing Horse.

Why not just build a bigger engine? Simple, as company CEO Stephan Winkelmann correctly observes, "It has come to the point where acceleration equals consumption. More consumption means increased CO2 emissions." Apparently, the answer to the power conundrum will be less weight. "We will use composite materials in the right place, when it also has the right cost, stiffness and mechanical characteristics," explains R&D chief Maurizio Reggiani.

Expect aluminum in the place of heavier steel along with improved aerodynamics and stop/start technology to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. We've also heard repeated rumblings of full hybrid powertrains, though those seem more likely to come at the tail end of the decade. Whatever the case, it should be interesting to see how all the world's supercar manufacturers – Lamborghini included – grapple with the push to be green while also upholding their performance traditions.

Lamborghini Reventon Roadster for Sale at $2 Million

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

The Lamborghini Reventon Roadster, a convertible version of the famed Italian marque's most coveted creation, has seen its price increase just a few weeks after it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Lamborghini announced that fewer than 20 and perhaps as little as 10 examples of the topless supercar (see video above) would be built, priced at €1.1 million or about $1.5 million. As with the original Reventon, however, it is thought that the limited edition Roadsters were quickly snapped up, and at least one early purchaser is already looking to turn a profit: a Reventon Roadster has now been listed for sale in Berlin via global online luxury marketplace JamesList for €1.45 million or $2.1 million. The car's 6.5 liter V12 engine pumps out 670 hp and can do 0 - 100 kph (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph.

How do you top the Lamborghini Reventon? The million-euro supercar – itself based on the already-extreme Murcielago – made its debut at the Frankfurt show two years ago, and almost immediately sold out its entire production run. This year Lamborghini returned with an even more enticing proposition: the Reventon Roadster.

The ultimate convertible Raging Bull upgrades on the Reventon coupe's fighter jet-inspired styling with an open-air body style, coupled to the same blueprinted 661hp 6.5-liter V12. Lamborghini will only make fewer than 20 examples, each carrying a $1.6 million price tag, so chances are these photos are the closest you'll ever get to seeing one.

The Lamborghini Reventon In Flight

Talk about bizarre, Lamborghini recently enlisted the help of the Italian military (don't they have anything better to do?) to fly one of their rare and uber-expensive Lamborghini Reventon cars over the town of Turin and land it on the roof of the Lingotto building, where they were having a conference titled "Lamborghini and speed, a project in record time." And record money too I bet.

The only explanation Lamborghini gave to curious onlookers was "all 20 units (of the Reventon) have been sold worldwide." I guess that since they were each priced at over $1.5 million that is a big deal, but who came up with this idea?

Lamborghini Reventon - All Sold Out

What do a fighting bull that gored a famous bullfighter in 1943 and a $1.68 million V12 Lamborghini have in common? Why, a name, of course.

The Reventon, powered by a 650-horsepower 6.5L V-12 and wrapped in CFC carbon fiber composite, has harsh, angular lines down to the spiky arrow nose. With just 20 slated for production and each one of them spoken for, the Reventon is reserved for only the richest, most exclusive customers, but the rest of the world gets to look at it, at least, as it sits on the show floor at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week.
