The world's ultra-rich have a new place to hang their hats. Dubai's Damac Properties have created a new line of luxury apartments that start around $10 million each. The Signature Residences each occupy an entire floor in two of Damac's skyscrapers: Ocean Heights in Dubai Marina and Lotus Heights in Business Bay. The apartments have 360 degree views and are located on the 67th to 75th floors of the towers and each have a private, voice-activated elevator. All apartments come with a maid's room, four parking spaces each and every apartment will have its very own swimming pool, personal gymnasium and steam room.

Maluaka, Green Building Goes Super Luxe

Maluaka is a new development on Maui that offers high end luxury. The development is set on 11 acres with a golf course and will be home to 69 residences with views of the ocean. The architecture incorporates traditional Hawaiian design elements and native building materials and is also designed to "rest gently" on the landscape. The development is seeking LEED certification for sustainability and environmental performance as a green building site. Green details include dual flush toilets, low flow faucets and shower heads, a photovoltaic system for solar energy and the use of recycled materials. The homes have floors done in polished wood or tumbled limestone. The homes incorporate sliding floor-to-ceiling glass panels that separate the indoor living spaces from the large covered lanais which feature outdoor kitchens and room for entertaining or relaxing. The kitchens are stocked with high-end appliances and the homes have master bedroom suites with sitting areas, large closets and bathrooms with glass showers and large tubs. The homes are also wired for the wireless access and for sound, security and smart home systems. Ownership also includes membership in the Club at Maluaka. which includes luxury services such as a concierge, personal trainers, vinter programs and a wine tasting room, housekeeping, beach services, adventure guides and access to private jet fractional program. According to a recent article in the Real Estate Journal, the homes range from 2,500 square feet to 5,300 square feet in size and are expected to sell for from $3.75 million to $13.5 million making this the priciest green development I have seen yet.

Brody Jenner's New Malibu Digs

Would you live on a road that has the same name as your ex? It doesn't seem to be a problem for Brody Jenner, Bruce Jenner's son and US Weekly's hot Hollywood bachelor of the moment. Jenner has signed up to live at Villa Malibu, an apartment complex on Cavalleri Road. If that name sounds familiar it should, it's rather close to Kristin Cavallari, the Laguna Beach princess he once dated. Jenner is moving into a 2,100-square-foot two bedroom + den home. It has also been announced that model Amber Valletta and her husband, Olympic volleyball player Christian "Chip" McCaw, and son Auden will also be living at Villa Malibu. Amenities at the complex include a concierge, "lifestyle valet", a pool with cabanas, yoga and circuit training classes and a continental breakfast every Sunday. Sounds good but it might be a bit of a downgrade for Jenner who once had stepdaddy David Foster's palatial home at his disposal.

If you ever find yourself wondering where on earth the next luxury residential tower is going to be built, just take a moment or two to check out the architectural scene in Dubai because the odds are good that they're planning something there. Omniyat Properties has just announced a new project inspired by the Apple iPod. The "iPad residential tower" will be built in Business Bay and will feature 200+ units in a building that is actually shaped like an iPod attache to a docking station. The designer firm handling the project is James Law Cybertecture International, based in Hong Kong. Engadget said that no sketches have yet been released, but the building should be done by 2009.
