Amana Gets Stylish

Whirlpool appliances is retooling their Amana brand, offering what they call "affordable luxury." The company feels there is a market for stylish appliances on the market. They've also drafted reality TV show interior designer Thom Filicia as the "brand ambassador" and he stars in videos on using appliances in home decor on the Amana webstie.

The company has created a line of top-mount refrigerators in colors like lipstick red, stainless steel kitchen suites and my favorite, the dry erase fridge which lets you write notes right on the door. It starts at $549. Future projects for the company includes a small egg-shaped washer just for your undies and a a top-mount refrigerator with a beverage can dispenser.

Meneghini Antique Refrigerators

Although they may have an antique appearance, there is nothing old fashioned about the Meneghini refrigerators. The fridges are produced by Robeys out of materials that range from aged cherry wood to Lebanese cedar and mahogany, with solid brass handles that are sturdy and timelessly beautiful. On top of the stunning finishes, or rather within them, lie ultra-modern interiors, with natural lighting, glass shelves and even appliances (optional), including coffee makers, microwaves, ice makers and even ovens. Appliancist has some apparently exclusive photos of one of the newer models. We don't have an exact price on these units, especially since there is a lot of customization involved, but don't be surprised to see them at upwards of £20,000.

Electrolux WoW Screenfridges

Electrolux has officially launched a "War on White" appliances, hence the name of their WoW Screenfridges. The refrigerators are only concepts right now, but they have a graphic panel than extends across the whole front of the fridge. For added interest, not to mention luxury and convenience, the design is based on the basic refrigerator equipped with an LCD screen in the door. The company plans to extend the concept to a whole series of appliances, and the senior VP said "it has become clear that now more than ever, people want unique products that allow them to express their individuality through their choices."

We know we do.
