School fundraising hits a new luxurious level at The Vail Academy, a private school located between Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado. The school has launched the 2009 Vail Home Raffle to raise money and the grand prize is a $1.3 million ski home plus $450,000 cash to pay the IRS. The home is located less than one mile from Vail Village and was renovated from top to bottom in 2008. It is a four-bedroom duplex that includes a great room, dining room, separate family room, laundry room and a sundeck overlooking the backyard.

The raffle tickets are $100 each and the grand prize drawing will occur on December 31, 2009. Early-bird cash drawings are an incentive to enter early and $70,000 has already been awarded to participants. The next drawing is December 4th. English Millionaire Raffling Off His Life

Tired of your life? Why not raffle it off? That's what English banker Andrew Paul is doing. He decided to jettison his millionaire lifestyle after his recent divorce and he's getting creative about it. His Win A New Life website is giving away his home, car and boat in a competition that anyone can enter for £20. Up for grabs are his £1.1m five-bedroom house, a £160,000 Aston Martin DBS and his £200,000 Sealine 35 Sport motor boat. The first prize is either the property or the car plus the speedboat and £85,000 in cash to help with insurance and fees. The first prize winner can also choose opt for £1 million in cash. There are also ten runner up prizes of his and hers sets of Omega Seamaster watches.

Like our Florida couple from yesterday, Paul has a set number of tickets in mind. He's hoping for sales of 200,000 which would work out to £4 million, a pretty tidy haul even after the prizes are doled out. There will be a lower cash prize if fewer than 150,000 tickets are sold.

In order to win you need more than luck, you also need a little skill. Once you pay the fee you need to estimate where a golf ball would end up in a photograph. Winners will be determined based on who ever is closest to the actual placement. The competition is scheduled to end August 19th but could end sooner if the tickets are all sold.

Raffle Offers Spanish Property And A Wild West Show

Ever fancied yourself a Spanish entrepreneur/showman who rides a Harley? This is quite the unique package offered until January 5th, 2009 from British expatriate Wayne Connell as he raffles off his Spanish villa, Wild West Show business and Harley Davidson motorcycle. My first thought is a bidding war on eBay but Connell is only asking that interested persons purchase a raffle ticket for a measley £25! A maximum of 200,000 tickets will be sold and Connell plans to pull the winning ticket in April now due to a little red tape. If less than 175,000 tickets are sold the winner will be given the cash raised by the raffle tickets instead...personally, I think I'd take that over managing a Wild West Show. Approximately 10,000 tickets have been sold so far.

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

raffle ticketWhich would you rather have, a Mercedes SLR McLaren or $300,000? For just $100 you may win the chance to make that decision. The Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury, MD is auctioning off the rare car for a good cause. The car retails for around $465,000. Pohanka will sell 5,000 tickets at $100 each. Most of the money will pay for the car, but the remaining cash will be donated to Toys for Tots. So far they have sold more than half of the tickets. The car can't be registered in several states and gets just 17 miles to the gallon so for those who are more practical, the winner can also choose the $300,000 cash if they prefer. The deadline is December 10 and you don't have to be local to play.
