Pure Gold High Heels

This past weekend a jewelry shop was showcasing a a pair of high heels made of pure gold (up to 680g of it) in Wuhu, Anhui Province. There's very little information available on the shoes, including who designed them (although we do know they're Italian), how much they cost, or if there's more than one pair in existence (and if not, what size is this pair?).

Although they are shiny and unique, I doubt they really expect anybody to wear them any place other than a photo shoot perhaps? I doubt you could even walk in them normally, never mind the fact that the design isn't even that flattering.

Thanks Magie!

La Prairie Pure Gold

There are so many anti-aging products on the market, but short of various chemical treatments, there are not all that many products designed to de-age the skin. La Prairie's Pure Gold is a Cellular Radiance Concentrate, a formula developed by the luxury cosmetics company to recapture the youth of the skin. The de-aging concentrate is a "microemulsion" of 24K gold micro-particles that "lifts, firms, resurfaces, brightens the skin." The bottle contains just one ounce, so it shouldn't take much to see results. Price: $525.

Store Your Gold, Creatively

Thanks to alert reader David, we were tipped off to a Japanese company that offers a unique way to store your gold - if you're a person who prefers to own solid gold than invest in it. They sell solid gold barbells, bars and, in a rather odd choice, shoe insoles. I have no idea why you would want to have gold shoe insoles. Let's face it: they wouldn't be comfortable and they're not going to fool any would-be thieves into mistaking them for DrScholl's. They weigh 1kg and cost ¥2,530,000 (or approx. $22,128). Prices vary depending on the amount of gold that goes into any of the other items.
