Prague Introduces a Better Way to do Members Only: the LS Club

Not long ago we would have believed that Prague had everything. The city responsible for gifting us with the Horologue, the Charles Bridge, Good King Wenceslas, Bohemians and the Lennon Wall, Havel, Kafka, Kundera, the Iron Door, and a mythical, 9-foot nocturnal worker made of clay simply had to be able to check off all the boxes. Apparently, we were wrong: the city had no luxuriant members-only club. That is, until LS Club arrived.

In Prague's district 1 -- of course -- the 2-story club's playrooms include a members' lounge, business center with 50-seat conference center and reception, SHISO Japanese restaurant featuring a chef with a NOBU pedigree, and its Cristal nightclub will be opening on New Year's Eve. You don't need to be a member to dine at SHISO, and for a closer look at LS you can step into The Library, open to members and restaurant patrons. That's where you'll find the cigars, humidor, and hundreds of whiskeys and vintage cognacs. And, of course, 500 volumes of literature, because your Rocky Patel Vintage '92 isn't complete without The Trial.

Beyond its location, LS offers complimentary transfers from the center of town, a personal concierge service, a meet & greet service for your international guests, and private shopping arrangements. Speaking of private, LS Club is all about it: no photography is allowed inside and no members of the media can join... which means you won't even find Luxist there. However, since LS membership also means reciprocal rights at a host of private clubs worldwide, you might find us elsewhere. But before you find out about those other establishments, you'll have to get into this one first.

Point Breeze, Nantucket's New Private Club and Residences

The Matthews Hospitality Group has announced via press release that two model residences in its Point Breeze development are open for viewing. Half of the 29 private residences within walking distance of Nantucket's cobbled downtown are already under agreement. (Because Nantucket real estate, like the island's timeless preppy togs, simply defies market trends.) Each owner will receive complimentary membership to Point Breeze's "ultra-elite" club, which features world-class spa, fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, five-star dining and concierge service. Nantucket property owners and frequent visitors can join in the fun by becoming members of the Club at Point Breeze.

A one-bedroom condo in the historically-inspired development starts at $1.5 million. The company has also broken ground on a similar project on Palm Beach Island, meaning your summers and winters are now covered.

The Plans For Point Breeze

With the passing of Memorial Day, tourist season is officially in swing on Cape Cod and the Islands. Just in time for summer visitors, a new private club and condominium complex will be opening a sales office and model residences to tempt those interested in a more permanent place to vacation. Point Breeze in Nantucket Town will offer Nantucket residents with their own homes a place to play at the Club at Point Breeze, a club with a spa, fitness center, restaurant, swimming pool, tennis courts and wine tasting room. The Residences at Point Breeze will be 32 shingled one and two bedroom condo units including six cottages. The homes include club membership and start at $1 million each. The $100 million project is being created by the Matthews Hospitality Group which is also behind another new luxury property, The Palm House in Florida. Phase One of Point Breeze will open in 2008.

XJet Private Club Set To Open

A couple of years ago I wrote about the plans for the XJet Club, a new private jet club opening at the Centennial Airport in Colorado. Now it seems that the club is finally set to open next month (it was originally set to open last year). The club has a a 100,000-square- foot facility and promises a luxury setting, and, more importantly fuel at cost. The club has a clubhouse, a restaurant and concierge services. The Denver Post reports that members pay $60,000 or more to join and have access to a fleet of private jets. The fleet may also someday include Aviation Technology Group's coveted Javelin jets. So far there are around 20 members and the business plans to also set up a smaller facility at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Mich. and they hope to have eight locations within five years across the country.
