Yay for zebra print mixed with flirty tassels and a feminine, puffy shape. This is the Safari Pouchette by Marc Jacobs and I love Net-a-Porter's idea of pairing it with a sleek business outfit for a chic punch of energy and style (although it could also work well for a casual party). It's a pony-skin bag with a drawstring closure, accented with tassels galore on blue and bronze rope ends and snake-effect leather flower charms that dangle off the bag's front. Other features include a bright blue leather lining (unusual) with an interior zip pocket. $1,895

Fendi Pouchette Shoulder Bag in Blue, Handbag of the Day

This delicious little shoulder bag by Fendi, the Pouchette Shoulder Bag is new and only available for pre-order.

The bag is small, just 8.5" by 5", and the "pouched" effect is meticulously crafted to give it dimension and style.

The strap itself is jewelry; a 7" drop with heart charm accents. This season it's all right to wear contrasting metals, so don't worry if you don't have anything to match the exact shade of yellow gold; try copper or white gold to complement it.

The bag is made exclusively in a dark blue, one of this season's hottest accessory colors. Dark blue may seem like a difficult color to manage as an accessory; it can clash with denim and look sloppy with a little black dress. Not to worry, this season, you'll find printed dresses with this color in the pattern and you can always pair it with gray.

This Chloé Saskia Patchwork Pouchette is the epitome of summer bags for me because it makes me think of summer smoothies and/or ice cream. And it's so hot as I'm writing this that either of those (or both...) would totally hit the spot right now! Made of leather in shades of white, beige, apricot, and hot pink, it features a large loop handle, logo buckle detail, and a neutral beige lining (bummer, I was hoping for more apricot on the inside) with an interior zip pocket. $1,560

Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch, Handbag of the Day

I hadn't loved any of the new Louis Vuitton purses for quite awhile, but that all changed when I laid eyes on the Eva Clutch. The design is inspired by one of my favorite models Eva Herzigova. I'm not sure if "inspired by" means she took part in it's conception, or if by looking at her perfect face someone was inspired to make it...either way this dainty bag is getting my vote for must have Louis of 2008. The clever removable straps allow you to carry it three different ways, using the short chain on your shoulder, using the long strap on your shoulder (which leaves the chain hanging as a decoration), or using the chain around your wrist as a pouchette. I love love love this bag! The Eva Clutch is available online and in select stores (it's selling out quickly, so get on a list) for $530, not bad as far as Louis go.

Louis Vuitton Purple Pouchette, Handbag of the Day

Working with designer Marc Jacobs, the classic Louis Vuitton Pouchette style bag has gotten a bit of a makeover for the summer. The bag is made of silk, printed with a charm bracelet pattern that has the LV logo and other iconic brand shapes. It is coated in vinyl to protect the silk scarf and make it more durable. The leather strap is removable and the bag has a zipper closure. The bag is accessorized with - what else - a small padlock. It does come in brown and white, as well as in fuchsia, for the more conservative dresser, but you may as well have a little fun with a summer bag! Price: $640.
