Michael Jackson and Andy Warhol Together at Christie's

Christie's is looking for a thrill on November 10, 2009. The auction house is sending an Andy Warhol portrait of Michael Jackson under the gavel, with a presale estimate of between $500,000 and $700,000. The piece, measuring 30 inches by 26 inches, is one of a small collection of silk-screens the King of Pop Art created of the King of Pop in 1984.

The Jackson piece is being sold by an anonymous collector in New York, according to Brett Gorvy, the deputy chairman of Christie's. The current owner purchased it from the Andy Warhol foundation sometime in the 1990s.

Forty-six lots will be auctioned along with the Jackson portrait, and there will be two other paintings by Warhol.

Back in August, a similar Jackson painting by Warhol was sold. The buyer chose to remain anonymous, and nobody will reveal the price ... except to say that it went for more than $1 million.

Oreste & Emma Radiators from Antrax

radiatorCombine sheet metal, radiant heat and pop-art -- what do you get? Playful radiators from Antrax for your home or contemporary social space. Modern, sleek and fun these traditional symbols for 'men' and 'women' were reconstructed into purposeful water or electric based radiators by Italian designer Andrea Crosetta. Measuring 172cm tall these funky signs can direct bathroom traffic or simply accent a bathroom wall. I'm always drawn to items that have more than one purpose and these certainly fit the bill!

Brazilian Pop Artist Romero Britto paints unique Bentley Continental GT

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Auctions, Art, Charity

Few things manage to demonstrate the difference between cultures as art. Take for example this Bentley Continental GT, donated to the hand of Brazilian pop artist Romero Britto. It may look good to some, and to others an absolute atrocity. Yet Britto's credentials as a renowned artist are known the world over, his works hanging in galleries, museums and prestigious private collections all around the world.

This Bentley will be part of Britto's upcoming exhibit at the Automobil Forum Unter den Linden in Germany from July 10 to September 6, after which it will be auctioned off to benefit multiple sclerosis research and the social integration of the mentally disabled.

Keith Haring Wooden Skateboard Brings In Over $16,000

There is no doubt that any piece of art by legendary pop artist Keith Haring would go for thousands of dollars. But in my mind, I think that would equate to a larger than life wall sized canvas. However, given that I know little about the cost/value of art, I can see how I could be completely mistaken. And don't get me wrong - being a huge Keith Haring fan, I have purchased whatever I could afford that had his artwork all over it. Last week at the Phillips de Pury's Auction, Keith Haring's 22 year old wooden skateboard that he drew on with magic marker sold for $16,250. Man, how I wish I had a spare 16 grand to spend.
