Plum TV Launches Plum Miami Magazine
Luxury cable television brand Plum TV is making moves in the magazine world, launching the first issue of Plum Miami , a Miami-centered luxury lifestyle magazine that features celebrity contributors Venus Williams, Ryan Seacrest, Brett Ratner , artist Kenny Scharf , hotelier Jonathan Tisch , and Tracy Mourning , wife of NBA great Alonzo Mourning. The March 2011 issue includes an interview with cover subject, model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker who recently starred in "Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.The magazine also includes an interview with "Burn Notice" actress Gabrielle Anwar who lives on Palm Island with local playboy Shareef Malnik , owner of local celebrity hangout, The Forge Restaurant l Wine Bar. The magazine is distributed to a list of moneyed folk in South Florida as well as popping up in Los Angeles, Aspen, Martha's Vineyard and internationally in St. Tropez, Milan and Paris. Two other new upscale magazines: Plum Aspen and Plum Hamptons are following hot on the heels of this one and Plum Miami plans to publish 10 issues in 2011.
It's a far cry from a couple years ago when it was feared that glossy luxury magazines might be doomed amid the economic turmoil. The Miami Herald reports that Plum Miami has already surpassed CEO Jerry Powers' revenue target for the first issue, hitting nearly $500,000. A total of 57,000 copies were printed of the 240-page magazine. More from Plum Miami below.
