Charming Baby Safety Pin

I'm in love with all of Jeanine Payer's creations for baby, although not all of them seem entirely practical (a pendant necklace for a baby? Hmmm). This sterling silver Baby Safety Pin is my favorite, consisting of 3 oval charms threaded onto a sterling diaper pin, each offering part of the darling quote by Henry David Thoreau: "The material was pure, and his art was pure; how could the result be other than wonderful?" The whole thing measures just 1 3/4" so it's basically a little charm itself with little charms on it. How charming! $330

I Love New Orleans Badge

Yesterday was the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's arrival in New Orleans. As the news reports, and our own team at Blogging New Orleans showed, the work to repair the city is far from over. Anne-Dale Jeweller, which is based in Mandeville, La., has created a collection of jewelry to benefit those affected by Hurricane Katrina. The collection includes badges, rings, earrings and pendants available in both silver and 14K gold that bear statements of support such as "I Know What It Means to Love New Orleans," "Pray for the Gulf Coast" and "Return to New Orleans." A portion of the proceeds go to a variety of charities and relief efforts. So far they have raised more than $170,000. The badge shown here in 14K gold sells for $399.95.

Marie Scarpa Pink Peony Pin

Women don't seem to be wearing brooches much these days. Perhaps a pin like this one could help bring them back into fashion? Resembling a very pretty spider web, the Pink Peony can be worn as a pin or a pendant. All woven and curvy, threads of 14k white and rose gold spin out from a tourmaline cabochon center stone. Alternating gold beads and pear-shaped pink tourmalines set at a slight angle give the illusion of movement and soften the edges. $1940.
