Brooks Brothers Launches Home Decor Collection

One of Luxist's favorite brands, Brooks Brothers, has launched their new home collection. The line takes the clothing maker's classic twills, silks and cottons and applies them to bedding, bath towel and decorative pillows that continue the Brooks Brothers look. The line of decorative pillows use the same look of Brooks Brothers ties to create striped pillows of English silk filled with a blend of white duck feathers and down that sell for $248 to $288.

There are two bedding collections of 330-thread count Supima cotton including the Blue Yarn-dye Bedding Collection which takes its inspiration from Brooks' classic shirt fabrics such as houndstooth, windowpane, glen plaid and pinstripe. The Herringbone Bedding Collection is in white with three-row embroidered border of navy and red. There is also a herringbone-bordered terry bath collection in 12 colors and terry bathrobes which have matching slippers. The entire collection is available on the Brooks Brothers website.

Frette's Spring/Summer 2010 Collections Inspired By Artists

Artists were the inspiration behind Frette's Spring/Summer 2010 Collections. The beautiful collections are an homage to both artists and the places that inspired them. The Venice is influenced by American Impressionist, John Singer Sargent. In his watercolor sketches, Sargent managed to capture the grace and mystery of Venice and the shimmering colors of the water and skies surrounding the city influenced the color palette used by Frette's designers ranging from Verbena to Myrrh. Luxury bedcovers in rich metallic silks in lavender, silver and copper complete the sumptuous collection. The sensual works of symbolist Gustav Klimt served as the inspiration to the Vienna. Vienna features floral shapes of cascading wisteria as well as geometric renditions of rosette blooms. The resulting patterns reflect early 20th century art and architecture's transition to Art Nouveau from a more classicist past. The Aix collection evokes Henri Matisse. The colors reflect the richly hued landscape of the Provencal region. All are available in Frette stores and online. Prices start at $1,695 for a total set.

Conrad Hotels Create an Extensive Pillow Menu

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels

More and more hotels seem to be entranced with the idea of the pillow menu as a way to attract customers. Conrad Hotels takes it to a new extreme level with extensive pillow menus that include more than 75 varieties of pillows to choose from across the globe. Some pillows are related to the destination such as the Shogun Pillow in the Conrad Bangkok or the Porcelain Pillow in the Conrad Centennial Singapore. Some pillows are for certain complaints such as the Anti-Stress Pillow or the Cold and Flu Pillow at the Conrad Chicago which is infused with four essential oils, eucalyptus, tea tree, bergamot and sandalwood. The 'Water Pillow' at the Conrad Miami has a thermal water pouch and super-soft hypoallergenic fibre filling for a better-quality sleep experience. The list goes on and on but it seems to me that if you are that particular about your pillow you are best off bringing your favorite from home.

Jean-Francois Lesage Holiday Pillows

The holidays are the perfect time to put out odd little decorative items and other seasonally-theme things that make the house look festive but have little "real" purpose. At least, most of them have little purpose. The Holiday Pillows from Jean-Francois Lesage can certainly improve the cushiness of your couch or a favorite chair. There are two designs, a snowflake ($475) and a reindeer ($505), and both are embroidered on oversized, soft French felt pillows along with the year. Each measures 24" x 24".

Velvet Beetle Pillow

Throw pillows are a nice way to accent a room without replacing the floor or furniture. You can easily introduce new textures and colors to a room, brightening it or making it more elegant, if you choose. A pillow like this Velvet Beetle Pillow, designed by Helene Ige, can be a nice touch. The pillow itself has a down and feather fill and comes in vibrant jewel-tones. It is accented with a beetle made of gold metallic foil. The beetle design is not so large that it draws too much attention from the rest of the room, but it does add a bit of interest to what might otherwise be boring pillows. Price: $139 or $159, depending on size (12x16" or 18x18").

Cindy & Mel Sushi Pillows

There is something very appealing about decorative pillows, although they never have quite the same sense of purpose as the pillows that your might ordinarily put on your bed. These sushi pillows by Cindy & Mel have particular appeal, probably because they look almost edible. They also have the added bonus of being far more comfortable than non-pillow sushi, not to mention that they last longer. The pillows are painstakingly made out of high-quality fabrics, with hand-painted designs. They make great housewarming gifts for sushi-loving friends. Ebi Nigiri (shrimp) pillow: $58. Other pillows: $48.

Saigon Dog Day Bed

Miniature versions of things are often very cute, so it's not a shock when people ohh and ahh over animals. Small size and human-like qualities , combined with dashing good looks, makes pets all the more endearing. This may be part of the reason that pets are often considered to be part of the family, and family members need to me taken care of. Would you make a family member sleep on a pillow in the corner? I think not. A small, cute family member needs a small, cute bed. Dog beds are not only designed to be comfortable for your pet, but to match the decor in your home. This Saigon Day Bed is the perfect example. It comes in hardwood espresso and cherry finishes and is elegant enough to look good in any home. The removable microsuede pillows (not included) come in 22 different color options. It's is just the right size for small dogs, or even a cat, if you can get him to sit still long enough to enjoy it. Price: $298.
