Tibaldi For Bentley Pens

Bentley has joined the ranks of Ferrari and other luxury car makers with their own branded pens. The pens are from italian company Tibaldi and celebrate 60 years of production at their Crewe factory. The pens get their looks from the two limited edition cars produced for the Diamond Jubilee of the Crewe factory, the Arnage and the Continental GT Diamond Series and have the Bentley B on the top of the cap. The limited edition includes 400 silver fountain pens. 200 silver roller balls, 40 solid white gold fountain pens and 20 solid white gold roller balls.

Posh Pens to Fit Different Bugets

Forbes decided the decidedly crave-worthy Limited Edition Mystery Pen, which is the most expensive every created with a price tag of $730,000, was a little bit out of the average budget in spite of the fact that the Mystery was practically flying off the shelves an into the hands of collectors last week. So for the rest of us, they put together a list of somewhat more attainable writing implements. The list includes the Cartier Le Dona Crocodile Pen ($4,000), the Omas Arte Italiana Arco Fountain Pen ($975, pictured) and the Cross Century II ($80).

The Sparkly Sharpie

Oh look, another diamond and Swarovski-studded whatsit. This time the bedazzling takes the humble Sharpie, you know, that pen you use to label boxes, to a whole different level. State Street jewelers in Illinois created this one-of-a-kind Sharpie marker worth more than $10,000. The Sharpie is covered with over 1,300 Swarovski crystals and the clip features 65 perfect-cut Hearts On Fire diamonds. The pen is being shown off this week in Miami and will be auctioned for charity on Feb. 6. It is a promotion for Sharpie's "Autographs for Action" program, which plans to donate $1 million in supplies and funds to charities, community organizations and schools across the country.

Faber-Castell Walden Woods Pen

Like the Great Works dishware that I mentioned earlier, the Graf-von-Faber-Castell Walden Woods roller-ball pen celebrates a literary legacy. The Walden Woods pen is created of ash wood that was salvaged from naturally fallen trees in Walden Woods and features a Thoreau quote. The cap of the pen is platinum. The pen is limited to a quantity of 2006 and retails for $600. A percentage of the sales will be donated to the Walden Woods Project and will also enable American Forests to plant a tree for each pen sold.

Vermeil Fountain Pen

Once in a while, we come across a writing instrument that is slightly more covet-worthy than others and this seems like one of them. The Vermeil Fountain Pen is made of solid silver and is covered in 18K gold. It has a vintage guilloche design, an 18K gold nib and a worldwide standard converter/cartridge refilling system that makes it convenient to use anywhere, not just at your desk. I'm not sold on the idea that it will make you "feel capable of drafting a treaty," but you just might enjoy writing checks a little bit more. Price: $350.

Caran d'Ache Black Series Pen Set

Swiss pen maker Caran d'Ache has made an entire wardrobe of black pens, one for each day of the week. The Varius Black Series Limited Edition from Caran d'Ache recently won the Stylographe Trophy 2007. The black case contains seven black numbered Varius ballpoints pens in Chinese Lacquer, Zebu Horn, Carbon Fibre, Ebony, Coat of Mail, Rubber and Alligator, as well as black Goliath cartridges in fine, medium and broad, a velvet pouch and a polishing cloth. Each pen is silver-plated and rhodium-coated for scratch-resistance and is fitted with the Caran d'Ache Goliath cartridge, which has a writing capacity of 600 A4 pages. The set is a limited edition of 500 and it sells for $3,400.

Cartier Pens with Charms

Unlike most traditional pens, the Cartier Charm Pens allow you to express yourself in other ways than simply with ink while you write. There are three pen/charm combinations: pink with a heart, white with a double Cartier C and blue with a Cartier decor charm. The pens have a shimmering, opaque pearl finish and platinum detailing, for a luxurious look as well as a smooth feel. Price: $250.

Visconti Divine Proportion Pen

It's not just movies that are being shown off at Cannes. Visconti pens took the opportunity of the film festival to debut their new Divine Proportion pen. They chose the Cannes Film Festival because the opening night movie was "The Da Vinci Code" and the novel talked about the mathematical relationship popularly known as "The Divine Proportion" which is seen as the essence of aesthetic perfection.

The golden mean (1.618) or phi ratio was used to develop the pen and including the length of the celluloid cap and barrel, the five-sided star shape of the inside, and the golden spiral or Nautilus barrel. The pen is trimmed in sterling silver and has a two-tone, 18K nib and a "Push & Pull" filling system. There is a riddle inside the pen, five numbers hidden inside the cap, clip, body and barrel of the pen. If you solve the riddle you win a golden Visconti inkwell. The pen is limited to 1,618 pieces in sterling silver and sells for $1290. There are also 618 gold-trimmed pens available.

Acme Studios 4fp Pens

When I was a kid I loved those clunky pens that let you switch to different inks. Acme Studios has created an updated version. The slim 4fp pen was designed to be the thinnest multifunction pen around. It's enviably slim shape hides a black ballpoint, orange highlighter, lead pencil and a PDA stylus. It comes in eight designs and sells for $78.

More on the Montblanc Diamond

We mentioned the Montblanc anniversary pen a couple of months ago but now WWD has more info on the distinctive diamond that is a part of the pens and watches that are being made to celebrate the brand's 100th anniversary. The diamond cut took eight years of research and development to design and has 43 facets. Only stones over half a carat will can be cut into the star shape. Montblanc's Lady profile watch which has a 18K whoite gold case, mother-of-pearl dial and the Montblanc diamond in the crown will sell for $3,050. A party in New York on March 14 to show off the diamond will be hosted by Claire Danes and Lauryn Hill will perform. "Mindfreak" magician Criss Angel will do the honors of presenting the diamond.

Aurora Talentum Finesse Pens

The Talentum Finesse from Aurora pens takes the classic look of the Talentum and shrinks it down to a slimmer profile for smaller hands or for tucking in a suit pocket. The fountain pen and roller have pull off caps and there is also a ballpoint version. The fountain pen has a 14K nib and fills through a cartridge or converter. The fountain pen sells for $156 and all three pens are also available in black but I prefer the pretty in pink version.

Conway Stewart Windsor Pen

The latest pen from English company Conway Stewart is the Windsor. The Windsor takes its inspiration from the fine detail work done by English gunsmiths. It takes craftsmen over 60 hours to create the intricate scroll engraving on this sterling silver pen. A translucent blue resin is applied to the pen so that the silver beneath can shine through. The nib is 18K gold with rhodium plating. The fountain pen sells for $1,005 and is being made in a limited edition of 100.

S.T. Dupont Vertigo II Collection

S.T. Dupont's Vertigo II collection is an updated version of the first Vertigo Collection which was made back in 1996. The new collection features a geometric pattern done in Chinese lacquer. There will be 350 fountain pens, 350 rollerball pens and 300 Line 2 lighters created. Pen Lovers recently checked out the set and gave it rave reviews. The lighter has a list price of $990 and can be found along with both pens at Fountain Pen Hospital.

Delta Alfa Romeo Pen

The Delta Alfa Romeo pen is created from a block of bright Alfa red resin. The pen which is available as a fountain pen or a rollerball is accented with sterling silver details. The pen features the Alfa logo and the central barrel ring replicates the car's grill and the cap crown's mimic the design of the spoked wheels. The trim ring is created in the likeness of the original tire tread and the platinum plated clip features a ruby. The fountain pen features an 18kt gold nib and there are%uFFFD 1750 of each type available. The fountain pen costs $499 and the rollerball is $236.

Stipula Blue Dusk Limited Edition Pen

In order to celebrate Fountain Pen Hospital's 60th anniversary, Stipula Pen Company of Italy has created the Blue Dusk Limited Edition. The pens are done in blue resin with sterling silver trim. They are selling 60 numbered fountain pens and 30 rollerballs. The fountain pens have Stipula's 14 kt gold nib, available in fine, medium and broad. Both pens can be purchased as a set for $395.
