The Ball Lamp Pendant

Who knew that a big bunch of white plastic balls could come together and make such a beautiful lighting fixture? It seems all the best creations are surprisingly simple, though, so this should be no exception. Designed back in 1969 by Verner Panton the Ball Lamp Pendant it's also known as the Wonder Lamp. The white balls are suspended on nylon strings, which makes them look like they're floating around the bulb inside and provides a warm diffused light. The Design Within Reach description mentions that the balls "bounce against one another with a satisfying tap," which is cool but I can't think why you'd be knocking your lamp around to end up hearing that sound, unless I'm missing something. Currently on sale for $998.

Betty Cooke Starburst Pendant

I love everything stars, and this is no exception. I came across this beautiful Betty Cooke Starburst Pendant on Modcats.com and I just love it. In mint condition and signed by Cooke, this pendant is large yet delicate, and extremely simple in design if you look closely at how it's put together. This pendant goes for $875 but there are several other jewelry items on the Modcats site that are just as unique and impressive, including the Modernist 14k Gold Ring of tigers eye and the Rebajes Modernist Copper Necklace.

Tom Dixon Designs in the U.S. this Summer

If you've already heard of Tom Dixon then you'll be glad to know his designs are making the move the to the States this summer. And if you haven't heard of him well then a taste of his work is pictured here, Copper Shade Pendants. They're plastic polycarbonate pendant globes coated internally with copper that look equally beautiful hanging solo or in a large group. Other designs of his that catch my eye are the Fresh Fat Easy Chair and the Spin articulated table candelabra.

Pharos Modern Pendant Lights

If you're looking to add a dose of color to a room, along with some mood lighting, you should check out these Pharos Modern Pendant Lights. They aren't overly bold, but diluted and a little smoky looking instead. I can't really tell, but doesn't look like they'll cast "colored" light either, like some tinted shades do. I think these would look great hanging in a group of the same color, But I actually really like what they have here with different colors grouped together in a totally haphazard way. Designed by Jeremy Piles there are 7 colors in all, $325 each.

Orb Multi-Light Pendant

The Orb Multi-Light Pendant by Trend Lighting hangs like an upside-down bouquet of flowers. I love lights that are actually bunches of lights, so this is right up my alley. In your choice of 15 spheres or 24, the individual shades are made of spun filament glass with a brushed nickel finish. If I'm reading this right (80" high) then this is one enormous lighting fixture, standing taller than me from top to bottom. That makes it that much more impressive, but also means it can't hang in just any entryway or dining room. $647.

The Detail.MGX Pendant Light

Now here's a lamp that truly can't be copied or created by any other artist -- it's literally got designer Dan Yeffet's fingerprints all over it. In an endeavor to create something that represented privacy (or a lack of) he took his own fingerprint and stretched it over a sphere shape, resulting in a truly unique pattern of light shining out from between the channels.

At first I wasn't that crazy about this design because it looked like zebra stripes and I'm not one for animal prints. But once I realized it's fingerprints I like it a lot more! Funny how that works. The Detail.MGX pendant light measures 24cm wide (the sphere) and is available from Within 4 Walls for £1948.

Roberto Cavalli Maltese Pendant

Embellished with multi-faceted stones, Roberto Cavalli's luxurious Maltese Pendant has a edge yet a softness about it. The various shades of purple and striking black stones exude a mixed feeling of delicateness and unyielding strength, while the gold becomes the backdrop to balance it all out. I think hanging from a longer chain, maybe about 30", where the pendant would sit at the center of your chest, would make this pendant even more eye catching. Tiffany Hearts Lock Pendant

Instead of opting for the cliche "key to your heart" type of pendant, Tiffany is offering the lock itself as a beautiful pendant for Valentine's Day. This Hearts Lock Pendant is made of 18K white gold (also available in 18K yellow gold) and features a heart-shaped set of round brilliant-cut diamonds embedded in the front of the lock. Each piece features one of the zodiac symbols in either gold or silver and they can be accented with either diamonds or semiprecious birthstones. The necklaces are elegant and very well made. The company uses only conflict-free diamonds and fair-trade gems, so you can feel as good about the elements in each piece as you can about they way you will look wearing it.

Amazon.com is promoting the fact that they are offering more designer jewelry than ever before from Ylang|23, including brands like Me&Ro and Ten Thousand Things. This Crystal/Diamond Necklace is by Ten Thousand Things. The pendant is a carved crystal that is suspended from a 16" gold chain and is studded with "sequins" of colored diamonds, pinned to the crystal with small gold spikes. It certainly has a unique look - and one that might even bring sequins back into fashion. Price: $4,080.

Charriol Diamond Golf Bag Charm

There aren't always as many golf-oriented gifts for women as there are for men, but fortunately Charriol made this adorable Diamond Gold Bag Charm. The bag is made of 18K white gold and has .03 carats of pavé diamonds sent into it, which is just enough to give it a little bit of sparkle without making it too opulent for wearing out to the links. Kozai Hanabi Lighting

Kozai designs interprets traditional Japanese craftsmanship in a modern way. Their Modern line of light fixtures uses bent cedar wood in starburst-style designs. The Hanabi light shown here is shown here was designed by Toshiyuki Tani and named for the Japanese word for fireworks. It is available as either a pendant or a floor lamp. The pendant sells for $830.

This fun Baby Devil Art Pendant from designer Theo Fennell seems like it is the idea accessory for a Halloween outfit, whether you want to dress up a costume or just add a little flair to an ordinary outfit. The heart is double-sided and covered in pavé rubies. The devil horns and other details are all done in white gold and, as a whole, the charm measures 1" x 1/2". Pinot Lighting

This unique light will definitely appeal to wine lovers. The aptly named Pinot lights designed by B.Lux highlight an inner glass which is available in white or red. Each center glass head is at the intersection of two planes of polished clear glass. The light has stainless steel trim and is available as a single suspension as well as two or three heads suspended by a single mount rail. The single pendant light sells for $444.60 and there are two types of wall sconces one with the glass frames that costs $383.40 and another without for $336.60.
