Thermaltake Level 10 PC Chassis by BMW DesignWorks USA

Thermaltake probably isn't a name you're familiar with. BMW, on the other hand, is a name we figure has found its way into your orbit. When the former, a maker of PC cases, went to BMW's DesignWorks USA to help it create something that would get some attention, DesignWorks returned with the deep black and all-aluminum and glowing-red-LED Level 10. And Thermaltake probably replied, "Yes, that's exactly the thing."

A computer's internals are normally just that: internal. The Level 10, on the other hand, places all of the things that make your computer compute in individual black boxes, and hangs all of those boxes on an aluminum spine that hides the cables. Then it bathes the works in a red, fiber optic glow. We won't bore you with the technical specs -- that's what the Geek Squad is for; all you really need to know is that it will hold everything you could want your computer to have. It can even handle 3 Blu-ray drives for rapid duplication of all those George Seaton-esque moments you'll capture this holiday season.

Well, you should also know that it's big and heavy: more than two feet tall and 47 pounds before you put so much as a motherboard. Speaking of which, the case alone is $850, but if you need an actual computer you'll need to allot a minimum of $2,500. Genteel geeks and posh PC-ers, the ultimate computing machine is here and now shipping.

The Eazo Luxury PC

If you're looking for tall, dark, and handsome then the Eazo tower is calling your name. It's a "luxury" PC that pulls off an elegant air of mystery and ominous technology by keeping things simple on the outside and powerful on the inside. It packs an Intel liquid-cooled 3GHz Core 2 Quad processor, 2 duplexed 8800 GTX video cards, 4GB of RAM, and both a superfast 10,000 RPM 150GB hard drive and a standard one with 500GB.

For $9,000 it's not really my taste, but then I'm not into the tuxedo look on my computers (and if I really had the choice I think I'd go with a laptop anyway).

Gold-Plated and Diamond-Studded Macbook Pro

I love my Macbook, but I don't know that I'd ever considering going so far as to plate it in gold with a big diamond-studded apple logo. But if you're of a different opinion and have the money to burn then you should get in touch with the team over at Computer Choppers and commission your own customized laptop casing, with options including gold or platinum plating with diamonds, sapphires, and other gems. Pricing varies, of course, but estimates for a gold-plated Macbook Pro run around $1200-$1500 plus another $500-$2400 for the logo (depending if you want CZs or diamonds).

Oooms Wooden Memory Sticks

Some things, cool or creative as they may be, just strike me as hilarious. And these Wooden Memory Sticks by Oooms had me laughing out loud when I first saw them. Maybe it's because they're so life-like that it brought to mind visions of shoving a stick into my computer and expecting it to store my data for me. And they look so realistic because they are real -- they're handpicked branches from the woods that are professionally handcrafted into USB storage discs.

Available in 256 mb, 512 mb, 1 Gb, and 2 Gb memory sizes and measuring about 2cm x 2cm x 10cm, they cost between 45 and 80 euros each. All laughter aside, it's a really neat idea.

Luvaglio's Million Dollar Laptop

Information and details are sketchy, but Luvaglio is apparently planning to unveil its latest luxury gadget -- a $1 million dollar laptop -- sometime in the near future. So what does that much money get you in the world of portable computers? There seems to be an intentional feeling of mystery surrounding the whole thing, with limited pictures released and an invitation only website. But rumor has it there's a glossy black piano finish on the outside, a self-cleaning screen, a Blu-ray drive, and a diamond-encrusted (of course) power button.

For a million dollars I hope the rumor-mill missed some major features, or else that better be one big power button.

Million Dollar Jewelry PC

We love Engadget's coverage of CES just as much as we love seeing some of the hot new gadgets to come out of it. Our feeling for the Jewelry PC are not quite that strong, despite the fact that it is, according to the makers at Moneual labs, the "world's first million dollar personal computer." It doesn't look that impressive even though it includes real diamonds and other jewels, but it runs "a Core 2 Duo or Athlon 64 FX, Windows Vista Ultimate, 8GB of DRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX 768MB of RAM, 2TB of 7,200 SATA storage, Blu-ray or HD DVD drive and ... [has] a 7-inch built-in screen, TV tuner and 7.1-channel sound." Unless you like the really traditional (bordering on old-fashioned) look of the computer, you might simply be better off going for a flashier, more modern computer and buying your diamonds separately.

Kapsel Media Center PC

It's white, it's cute, it's agreeably compact and looks like a Mac but it is actually the Kapsel Media Center PC and runs Windows Media Center Edition. The tiny ceramic shelled PC can be hung on a wall and positioned either horizontally or vertically on a table. It will use the Intel Viiv platform and is designed facilitate use of online music and video services, TV viewing and recording and in general is designed to be a living room computer to work in conjunction with your plasma TV to watch video in high def, rent movies and watch TV over the internet. The Kapsel comes with a remote control and remote keyboard. t was supposed to launch in March and I haven't been able to unearth a price on this one.
