Ferrari Gas Cap Paperweight

Carbon Fiber Gear highlighted recently a Ferrari 355 gas cap paperweight. Made by RaceChairs.com, it's constructed of a 6″ x 6″ piece of carbon fiber, a colored suede underside and a real (but unused) gas cap from a Ferrari 355. (Also available with a Lamborghini Diablo gas cap.) The carbon fiber weave is clearcoated for shiny finish, and the bottom of the paperweight is covered in your choice of black, yellow, or red suede, to ensure it won't scratch your desk. The gas cap is highly polished aluminum with the Ferrari logo on the center. Optional: have an engraved plaque added or get wall hangers for display. $325, but just $199 on RaceChairs.com at the time of this writing. Looks like something our sister site, autoblog, might take a liking to.

[Thanks, Dave]

Iomoi Paperweights

Paperweights are, unless you work in a wind-tunnel, essentially useless objects in terms of functionality. This is all the more reason that their selection should be based entirely on appearance; their real function is as a sort of desktop art object. The customizable paperweights from iomoi stationery provide you with a huge array of designs to choose from and can be personalized with initials or a few select words. And how can you resist a paperweight with a cute cupcake on it? Price: $65 for round weights, $40 for oval.

$740 Per Pound Lobster

Lobsters are already a popular luxury item at top restaurants, and usually diners can expect to pay something a bit about the market price per pound for that day. A $740 per pound lobster is in an entirely different league. Fortunately, if you splurge on this crustacean, you'll be able to enjoy it for more than a meal since it is made of glass. The lobster has silver antennae and was hand-formed to be as true to the look of a real lobster as possible by artist Taf Lebel Schaefer. It measures 11.75"x6.625". Price: $3,700.

Aston Martin Wheel Spinner

Did you know that Sony is considering having Pierce Brosnan back in the role of James Bond in a remake of the movie Thunderball? Actually, this is a completely unsubstantiated rumor that is floating around, so don't take my word for it. All things considered, though, there are a lot of Bond fans who would rather see Brosnan back than wait to see Daniel Craig in the forthcoming Casino Royale. They'll have to be contented with something like the excellent - if impractical - Aston Martin Wheel Spinner chrome paperweight. It manages to evoke the glory days of Bond as only everything Aston Martin can and might make a slick consolation gift to a disappointed fan. Price: £102.13.

Esque Glass Revolver

Paperweights are interesting pieces of desktop art, which is why we love them. We all know that there are not often high-speed winds sweeping through our offices. This Esque Revolver is an exceptional example of paperweight art. It is hand-blown glass that is shaped into a life-size revolver. Though each piece varies slightly, they are strikingly realistic, not to mention beautiful. The glass is recycled, and the revolver can be blown in amber or metallic blue. All pieces are custom made to order. Price: $315.
