Bugatti Veyron Gets The Golden Touch In Kuwait

It is true that the Midas touch usually ends up appearing more like a beating from the 'rod of distaste.' Not always though, and thankfully this splendid Bugatti isn't actually suffering from Gold sheet metal, but rather a decadent paint job. With a slathering of two-tone gold paint, this owner of this charming speed demon pampers it like a new born - an almost 2 million dollar new born. Kept in a special climate controlled garage in Kuwait, this gold Veyron is a pride of the desert.

With needs like an occasional $10,000 detail job, this isn't the type of super car you just ignore until you get the itch to drive fast. Instead, the proud owner will likely be spending much of his time with a delicate cloth buffing the Veyron's flanks while whispering to it in soft German. The occasional drive through the boulevards of Kuwait with the luxurious gold paint job may not necessarily be to show off, but rather as camouflage to blend in with the sand while pushing the Bugatti's massive 1001 horsepower 16 cylinder engine to its over 200mph limit.

Joe Bravo's 'Tortilla Art'

When someone says "tortilla" to you, what pops to mind? Lunch, right? A nice big burrito with extra sour cream. But Mr. Joe Bravo isn't like most of us, when he thinks "tortilla" he starts thinking of his next artistic inspiration. To him tortillas are canvases on which he paints amazingly detailed and deep creations with acrylics. Of course, the tortillas must be prepped and treated beforehand, and for each painting Bravo searches through several tortillas until he finds the one with just the right appearance and texture. This month Bravo will be heading to Hong Kong to showcase his floury creations while painting a celebrity live and in person. I'd love to see him paint -- must be an interesting process!

Paint Your Home With Ayurvedic Colors

I've seen chromotherapy used in a spa setting and colors can definitely impact moods but AFM Safecoat is the first paint company I have seen create colors for your Ayurvedic dosha. Their Ayurveda Essence Colors were developed by New York color theorist Michael Fallarino and include 108 mood-enhancing colors in three sets of 36, to create specific balancing or energizing effects based on a person's Vata, Pitta or Kapha dosha. For Vata types who are often thin and nervous, the color set is earthy and muted, for the fiery and athletic Pitta a set of complex colors designed to calm and for the Kapha who needs a bit of a kick, a brighter palette to energize and stimulate. The colors are designed to be nonpolluting, eliminating toxic ingredients such as solvents, heavy metals, chemical residuals, formaldehyde and other harmful preservatives. The molecular formulation is designed to seal surfaces to reduce the emission of toxins into your environment.

Paint by Numbers, from Weego Home

What if next time somebody visits your home, and inquires about a beautiful new hand painted piece of artwork, you can smile and say "I did that," and then enjoy the surprised faces of your guests. I know what you're thinking: Yeah right. But even those with severe artistic challenges have that option now with "paint-it-yourself" kits from Weego Home. The Paint by Number sets include everything you need to complete a 32" or 40" canvas painting, including a wooden stretcher frame, pre-drawn primed canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, and full instructions. And honestly I don't think the end results look too shabby at all.

So let your inner artist break free! Within the pre-drawn lines, of course.

Pollock Sells for $140M

Although neither the seller nor the buyer, both private and tight-lipped, want to comment on the sale, the $140 million price tag that was attached to a Jackson Pollock paining last week makes it the most expensive piece of artwork in history. The painting, which was done on fiberboard, is titled "No. 5, 1948" and measures 4-feet 8-inches in height. David Geffen reportedly it sold to the "obsessively private" Mexican financier David Martinez through Sotheby's. The NY Times speculates that, as Geffen just sold off two other very expensive paintings in the last few weeks, he may be trying to raise money for a bid to purchase the LA Times.

Color Changing Wall Paint

Eclipse color-changing wall paint could convert anyone who thinks that paint is not as interesting as 3D wallpaper or wall flats for decorating the home. The paint changes color from dark to light when it is touched or otherwise exposed to heat. It can be applied as a single coat to add dimension to existing colors, such as the purple pictured here, or it can be applied alone, creating a black-to-white effect. The company that makes the paint says that it will "transform your wall info an interactive show piece." You can see a demo of someone pressing their face against the wall - in the event that is the sort of thing you would like to do with your "show piece" - here

I haven't painted a room in quite some time, but something tells me that, priced at $349 a gallon, Eclipse is at the high end of the market.

V2 3D Wallpaper

Wallpaper is the new... paint? Instead of leaving walls as solid colors, no matter how bright the color choices are, more and more people are opting to give their homes a further degree of interest with wallpaper. There are an almost unlimited number of patterns to choose from, but for a really unique look, textured paper is the way to go. MioCulture's V2 3D Wallpaper can give a room more than just the appearance of texture. The wallpaper comes in square "tiles" that are made out of 100% recycled paper. The pattern on the tiles extends 2.5-in. from the wall at its highest point and, by varying the tile positions, you can create a fantastic array of designs that will please the eye and "interact with space around you." Each tile is 12x12-in and they are sold in packages of 12 for $28.
