Anthropologie Horned Owl Tote, Handbag of the Day

Anthropologie Horned Owl ToteThe Horned Owl Tote is a great fall bag with a lot of character.

Even with its country western, saddle flavor, the dainty design of this bag is feminine and flirty -- and if you look at it the right way, it's the face of an owl.

You may remember the Kate Spade owl purse, but we like that this one is not quite so ... aggressively owl-like. The owl is just gently suggested by pretty cross-stitching, patchwork, and little beads.

This 13"H, 18"W, 4.5"D bag is also highly functional -- the perfect work bag for a day you need a pick-me-up. The side pockets are roomy and give good structure to the shape and the lining is floral and lovely. As with most caramel leathers, it would be beautiful with jeans or your best suit.

The Horned Owl Tote is available from Anthropologie for $398.00.

Boucheron Owl Ronde Seconde Folle Watch

Here is the best in my opinion of the Bestiary Ronde Seconde Folle Watch collection by Boucheron. Like the frog model the Owl continues with the "googly" eye theme where the Owl's eye located at 7 o'clock is a small disc for the seconds where the pupil moves around and rotates fully each minute. Dark purple tones allude to the night, where this watch model is most at home. The indigo color also works well with the 42mm wide 18k gray gold case and slightly darker gray tone of the owl character. Again, Boucheron uses diamonds and various colors of sapphires, rubies, and tsavorites to decorate both versions of the watch from the more subdued version to that where the owl takes over the face and bezel of the watch. The whimsy of the timepiece is almost Disney worthy.

Again, as is for the rest of the Bestiary Ronde Seconde Folle collection, inside is the Girard Perregaux GP 4000 automatic movement. It is about all you could hope for in a watch with beauty, humor, character, high quality construction, and a haute horology attitude. The right women will be so taken by the entire collection as to want all six models of the three animals; the Chameleon, the Frog, and the Owl. Likely available soon where Boucheron timepieces and jewelry are sold.

Oiva Toikka Owl Collection

Some things just make me smile to look at them, and this nerdy-looking little owlet is one of them. It's part of a whole collection of owls, and I really think I want more than just one. Each piece is individually mouth-blown and hand-crafted of glass in Finland, with obvious great attention to detail. Would make a great gift for bird lovers and art lovers alike, with each owl catching the essence of its corresponding inspiration amazingly well. This owlet, for example, really does look like a young baby bird! And the others, the Barn Owl and Little Barn Owl, are just as detailed. £60-£153 each.

Night Owl Nightlight Rugs

One shows an owl perched on a tree during the day (orange) and one shows him at night (navy), but both of these Night Owl Baby Zoo Rugs have nightlights built into them. These rugs are 100% virgin wool and are colored with natural vegetable dyes, so they are durable, soft and safe to have around kids. The floor light runs on 3 AA batteries and matches the rugs' coloring. They're $500 each, but that seems like a small price to pay to alleviate fears of the monster under the bed. Think about it: to a child, whatever it costs to get rid of the boogieman is worth it. He's a scary guy.
