Salamander Design Jump Seat Ottoman

Most home theaters have a set number of seats and if you have extra people over you have to drag in chairs from elsewhere or hit the floor with pillows. Salamander Designs has created a new solution, a new Jump Seat Ottoman that will be debuted at the 2008 CES in Las Vegas. The Jump Seat Ottoman opens to reveal a hide-away theater seat that can be used as an extra seat for watching movies or playing video games. The seat is padded for comfort and even has a cup holder and room for a game control. It comes in a variety of different colors and fabrics.

The Dune Daybed

With organic shapes and fluid lines the Dune Daybed makes lounging outdoors all kinds of inviting. Designed by Vladimir Kagan as part of the Barlow Tyrie Woven Outdoor Furniture Collection it has a hefty woven base that seamlessly incorporates a side table and substantial molded cushions with plenty of comfy pillows. The optional matching ottoman fits next to the daybed like a puzzle piece, which not only gives you a handy place to put up your feet but also adds to the inviting and relaxing appearance of the set. Available in a variety of colors the set goes for $3,999.

Have Fun, Sit Pretty, and Be Green on the Miss Gana Ottoman

This seat made me smile the minute I saw it because it looks like something out of a Jim Henson movie. It's the Miss Gana Ottoman, and not only does it look fun to sit on but it's good for the environment too. Made completely of overstocked flip flop sandals (unworn, of course!) in a way that doesn't require further manufacturing, it's firm to sit on (even though it looks like a bean bag chair) and can be used indoors or out, although it may fade a little outside. Designed by Karen Wittmann Wilsmann, it's available in limited edition, measures 14"Hx24"Wx24"D, and costs $250.

Vividly Patterned Ottoman Provides Design Impact

Decorating a home with patterns is often tricky. In many homes that I have seen for the estate of the day, I have seen people mix patterns on walls, window treatments and sofas with disastrous result. The overall effect can be chaotic and dizzying. However, take one small piece, cover it in a vibrant print, like the one shown here and put it in a minimalist room with solid colored furniture and instant impact. This simple footstool from Bo Concept starts at $288 and comes in a variety of fabrics that would be fugly in large doses but work perfectly in this size.
