Diesel has just released a limited edition fragrance for men based on Iron Man and their existing "Only the Brave" fragrance product (which we wrote about here previously). Just hearing this makes me think that it smells like oil and gasoline fumes mixed with the sweet chemical smell of a foundry. And with Diesel's new slogan of "Be Stupid" I wouldn't put it past them. Alas, "Only The Brave," has no mechanical odors to be found. It has a clean, modern scent that starts a bit sweet moving to a light citrus with an overtone of freshness. Iron Man 2 was all about buddies and teamwork - so we are giving away a pair of Only the Brave Iron Man 2.5 Fl. Oz. bottles for you and a friend. New Fragrance Gets An Iron Man Makeover

Want to smell like a superhero? In a unique comic-book-turned-movie tie-in, Diesel is giving the fragrance Only The Brave, an Iron Man makeover hoping for a boost from "Iron Man 2" which opens on May 7. The scent is the same but the fist-shaped bottle has been given a red and gold paint job to match the main character's fancy suit. The limited edition run will come in boxes decorated with scenes from early Iron Man Marvel Comics.

The scent is described as having top notes of lemon blossom, mandarin and coriander leaves, a heart of labdanum, black rose and lavender, and a dry down of amber, tolu wood and ebony wood. Might be an act of bravery just to wear it. The 2.5-ounce size will sell for $67.50 and will be available in mid April.

Diesel Owner Picks Up Viktor & Rolf

Big news for fashion design firm Viktor & Rolf. Renzo Rosso, the Italian industrialist behind Diesel, has acquired a majority stake in brand helmed by the dynamic Dutch duo of Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. Rosso has said that he plans to make major investments in the company's ready-to-wear business and will add freestanding Viktor & Rolf stores as well as adding licensed products like glasses and jewelry.

Rosso's Italian holding company, Only the Brave also controls Dsquared, Maison Martin Margiela and Sophia Kokosalaki, and manufactures Vivienne Westwood's leading lines which sounds like good company for the often unconventional Viktor & Rolf designs.
