Marc Drier's One Beacon Court Apartment To Be Auctioned Off Too

Filed under: Real Estate Developments, Crimes and Misdemeanors

Last week we brought you the yacht and vacation homes of money-laundering lawyer Marc S. Dreier. Now Bloomberg reports that he will also lose his luxury condo at Manhattan's One Beacon Court. Dreier is currently confined under armed guard at the residence. He is being sentenced for charges of money laundering, conspiracy, securities fraud and wire fraud on July 13 and the auction will be held by David R. Maltz & Co. on July 21. Drier paid $10.4 million in 2007 for the four-bedroom unit. Drier's schemes cost his victims $400 million and he could face a life sentence. Cityfile has a tour of the apartment from before Drier moved in.

One Beacon Court, also known as the Bloomberg Tower because it is the headquarters of Bloomberg LP, was designed by architect Cesar Pelli. It nicludes a fitness center, business center, children's playroom and more for which you'll spend over $4,000 in monthly common charges. There are many units for sale in the building including the one belonging to Formula 1 boss Flavio Briatore listed for $25 million.

Flavio Briatore's NYC Penthouse, Estate of the Day

flavio biratoreYou many never have heard of Flavio Briatore but you've probably heard of some of his ex-girlfriends including Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell. Briatore, who married Wonderbra model Elisabetta Gregoraci last year, is the managing director of the Renault Formula 1 team and a businessman with various interests including the Billionaire club in Sardinia.

Briatore bought his penthouse at One Beacon Court in New York City in 2005 for a reported $11 million sum. Even though he once said he only spends two weeks in Manhattan a year, he picked up a place at the Plaza for a reported $25 million. That number, coincidentally, is what he's asking for the One Beacon Court penthouse, which the NY Times says has been on the market since last September. His penthouse has four bedrooms and 13-foot ceilings. The listing says the decor was done by Alberto Pinto and features "the most powerful master bedroom seen in years." I wouldn't go quite that far but is is rather lovely. The penthouse has two guest rooms and staff quarters and city views that have probably seduced many a long-legged lass.

Cityfile reports you can rent Briatore's Plaza apartment for $65,000 a month.

Bobby Abreu in NYC, Estate of the Day

Baseball player Bobby Abreu has had his apartment in One Beacon Court in New York City listed since last March but since it seems like Abreu might be soon leaving New York for the West Coast (both the Dodgers and the As have expressed interest) we thought it might be time to give him a little sales help. One Beacon Court has seen big baseball sales before, Johnny Damon had an apartment here, selling a 2,410 square foot apartment for around $8 million. But that was in 2007. Abreu's apartment is a two bedroom with a large living room and dining room and a master bath with a soaking tub. You'd be buying this one for the views more than anything else although all the finishes are as luxurious as you would expect. Abreu has had this place on the market for $7.9 million without a price cut. Back in March, Big Time Listings reported that Abreu paid $3.5 million for the property in 2005, so it seems he could lop a bit off the price and still make a profit. It seems like it's time to do so.

UPDATE: This home is listed at $5.9 million.
