Woodgrain Breakfast Set

The pattern for the Woodgrain Breakfast Set was originally created in the late 18th century, an expertly-painted wood pattern set on fine porcelain, and though this is a modern reproduction, it is the first to be seen in a very long time. On top of the wood pattern, there is an image of a painting, similar to one that an 18th century engraver would have tacked to his workbench for reference as he reproduced it on copper. The plates are all rimmed with 24K gold. Each set comes with a cup, saucer and breakfast plate. Price: $3,200.

$500 Rotary Phone

If $500 seems a little steep for an old-fashioned phone, you can take some comfort in the fact that this one is well equipped with the same conveniences as most cell phones, though text-messaging will probably be quite difficult. The Port-O-Rotary is completely portable and works in almost any country (tri-band). Just insert your SIM-card and the phone is ready to go, using the number and memory from your mobile phone.

The product description of the phone is a little strange, as it describes it as being high quality, but tells you that the phone will not have sound quality that is as good as a "pocket phone. Other disadvantages include the fact that it may be difficult to store in a pocket or handbag, and the loud bell-ring may be annoying to some.

Morice Cookers

Hailed as the french standard for luxurious cooking, Morice Cookers have style as well as power in the kitchen. Their old-world look is far more sophisticated than some of the "retro" models available, and it is much warmer than sleek, commercial-style ranges and cookers, which have little or no personality of their own. One of Morice's biggest selling points is the fact that the ovens have a very thick steel base, which allows for consistent, even heat conduction. There are three sizes available, the Marengo, the Supreme (pictured) and the Grand Veneur, and apparently, there are 1,600 colors to choose from.

All-Luxury Airline... for Smokers

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels

Smintair is a new luxury airline concept that is being developed by a German entrepreneur. The name is derived from a longer title: Smoker's International Airlines.

On board, not only will smoking be permitted, but the airline promises to "bring back the exclusivity in flying encountered in the 1960s." The plan is to offer two jets, Boeing 747s, and round-trip service from Dusseldorf to Tokyo. There will only be 138 seats on each plane (compared to 347 on a normal commercial 747) and they will not offer coach or economy seating. Business class seats will have 70" of legroom (compared to the standard 55") and First Class will have 80" of leg room.

Alexander Schoppmann, the founder of Smintair, says that the "no smoking" policy of airlines was originally implemented so that companies could cut back on air conditioning systems; Schoppmann says that his airline will restore systems that can handle the smoking without problem.  He is confident that fliers will be willing to pay for the comfort and services his airline will offer.

On a final note, Smintair does state on its employment application that "Allergics against tobacco smoke or militant anti-smokers are asked to not apply."

3.1 Philip Lim Victorian Jacket

I love how this Victorian Jacket by 3.1 Philip Lim fit Mena Suvari when she wore it to the Final Fantasy movie premiere. The fitted waist and short length of the jacket really hugged her curves. The jacket also has an old-fashioned, flared tail in the back. The cut would look amazing on anyone with a similar body type. The black and white of Mena's jacket was striking, but for a softer look, I prefer it in light pink. Price: $598.
