Tod's Media D Bag, Handbag of the Day

Tod's Media D Bag is sleek and sophisticated - ideal for the office and other business affairs. The flat-sided black leather bag is large, measuring 15" x 11" x 5", so it can easily store many folders or books, in addition to all the everyday things you are likely to want at hand, including a wallet and cellphone. The suede interior has one zippered and two patch pockets. Rolled leather shoulder straps have an 8" drop, making the bag easy to fit under an arm, though they are thick enough to be comfortable when carried in-hand, as well. A small silver accessory adorns the end of one of the leather side ties, but the bag's metal feet are golden in color. Price: $1,150.

Helvetica Wall Panels

Helvetica is a mathematician's dream and an English major's nightmare. This pattern is a little less conventional, a little bolder than the Carnaby Panels from the same manufacturer, but these wall panels are fantastic. They could work in an office or a child's room, and would even make an interesting accent wall in a very contemporary home. Depending on the color (matte white, pictured), the 96"x46" panels are about $1000 each.

Table Top Fireplace

Fireplaces are not relied upon for light and heat to the degree that they once were, if at all, and now serve more often as an accent piece, a live-action art display. The Table Top Fireplace is a miniature oil-burning fireplace that looks like a work of art but doubles as a light source, giving it a degree of functionality that most other fireplaces lack. It measures only 10"x14" and is made of stainless steel "logs" on a slate base. Use it as an accent in an office or take it outside when entertaining as a substitute for a firepit. Price: $340.

Donald to Design Furniture?

Yesterday's Wall Street Journal (subscription) mentioned in passing that Donald Trump is thinking about going into the furniture business. Word has it that he is in talks, and "near to a deal," with a major department store that will carry his name on a line of furnishings that includes everything from tables and chairs to office furniture. Trump's spokesperson would not name the store yet. Will it be Barneys, Saks or Sears?

Esque Glass Revolver

Paperweights are interesting pieces of desktop art, which is why we love them. We all know that there are not often high-speed winds sweeping through our offices. This Esque Revolver is an exceptional example of paperweight art. It is hand-blown glass that is shaped into a life-size revolver. Though each piece varies slightly, they are strikingly realistic, not to mention beautiful. The glass is recycled, and the revolver can be blown in amber or metallic blue. All pieces are custom made to order. Price: $315.
