The Diamond-Covered Blackberry Bold

You might think the diamond-covered phone market had dried up in this economy but companies are still creating them. Luxury designer and jeweler Knalihs Athem has come out with their latest diamond-covered phones: The Diamond Blackberry Bold(BlackBeauty) and The Diamond Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte(SnowWhite). The custom phones can be decorated with pink, yellow, black, champagne and white diamonds and personalized with initials, lucky number, logos and anything else your heart and back account desire. Each one is a custom creation although the Nokia clearly offers more room for stones to be inlaid. The Knalihs Athem Blackberry Bold looks almost modest by comparison with its small rim of diamonds.

The New Nokia Carbon Arte Attempts to Prove the Cell Phone is Not Dead

Nokia Carbon ArteIt's not a Blackberry. It's not an iPhone. It's just a phone. The new Nokia Carbon Arte attempts to prove that the cell phone is not dead.

It has panels crafted with leather from Eastern India. Its sister phone, the Sapphire Arte has a sapphire "select" key. Both phones include a "groovy" soundtrack by Austrian duo Kruder & Dorfmeister. Each has a 3.2 megapixel camera, 1 GB of built-in memory, and 3G capabilities. We like the weight, the way it slides open to reveal the keypad (shown), and the really cool silencing mechanism -- if you turn over the phone to screen-side-down when it's ringing, it stops.

Is the heyday of the cell phone over? At 1000 - 1500 euros, this is definitely a luxury item, but who among the elite wants a phone that doesn't surf the web?

Are Cell Phones Over?

The pink phone has a pearl necklace in place of the standard strap and has gold-tone heart and skull charms. Nokia N93

The Nokia 93 is an intriguing device. A bit more than a phone, Nokia bills it as a multimedia computer. It creates MPEG4 quality video that can be viewed on the high-def 2.4" display. It also serves as a video player, has a 3.2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth v.2.0. The Nokia N93 sells for $699.99. Nokia has created a studio website for those with the Nseries devices who want to share video. The only downfall to the phone seems to be that fact that for a phone it is pretty huge, especially for those who are addicted to the ultraslim Razr.

Nokia N72

The Nokia N72 is an addition to the Nokia Nseries line of phones and is designed to provide a multimedia experience, as well as facilitate communication. It has a 2-megapixel camera and integrated digital music player, with dedicated capture and music player keys, an integrated browser, FM radio and support for Visual Radio. A rep from Nokia said that "with this device people will feel like they can express their extrovert nature."

All technical capabilities aside, this phone is gorgeous. It is available in a pink pearl finish, as well as high-gloss black, and has "digital textures" on the back, which are customizable graphic designs that allow you to "make the phone your own."

The phone comes with a matching headset and wrist strap and is currently being released in "key markets," which seems to include everywhere except western Europe and the Americas.
