106th Annual New York Boat Show Takes Place This Month

The 106th annual New York Boat Show gets underway later this month at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The event runs January 19-23, and the 'Queen of the Show' will be the 49-foot Sunseeker 47 Portofino. The $1.15 million sports cruiser has a large saloon and well-equipped galley with a master stateroom and a twin bed cabin, both en suite. Other features include a second social area with seating, wetbar and sunpad. Also on display will be the Azimut 48 Flybridge-Range, a $1.1 million yacht with midship located guest cabins, an extended aft bathing platform, a dinette for six and a spacious galley.

The show features boats from several thousand to several million dollars and special Show pricing can save buyers up to 15%. Show goers can also enter to win a Boater's Dream Vacation at the Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands. The contest awards one 8-day/7-night trip for two to Virgin Gorda's Bitter End Yacht Club in a beachfront villa or a North Sound suite including three meals daily, use of the vast club fleet of over 100 boats, snorkel excursions, sailing school 101 and more.Russell Newberry, from the television show "Deadliest Catch" will be on hand to offer the inside scoop about life aboard three of the most popular crab boats in America. Tickets are $12 for adults; children 15 and under get in free.

New Riva Yacht Stars at NYC Boat Show

Riva Yachts, the iconic Italian motorboat maker that epitomizes Dolce Vita style, is debuting its newest luxurious creation at the New York Boat Show opening this weekend. The Aquariva Super (above) is a 33-footer combining elegant and sinuous lines, precious woods and supreme attention to detail in carpentry, chrome, lacquer-work, leather, and fittings; it's priced at about $944,000. Riva, which launched a collaboration with Veuve Clicquot champagne over the summer, first captured the attention of movie stars and the international jet set in the '50s. Its classic wooden craft, which inspired the Cruise Collection, have been owned by the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren, Aristotle Onassis and Prince Ranier of Monaco.
