MARCH LA.B AM 1 Shelby Limited Edition Watches Partner With Automotive Icon

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Luxury Cars & Autos

Still very new as a brand, MARCH LA.B timepieces was able to woo Carroll Shelby enough into doing a limited edition collection together. The famous icon of the American auto industry is probably most well known for his work with Ford producing many generations of Shelby Cobra 'super' Mustang cars.

Working closely with Shelby, MARCH LA.B now offers two limited edition timepieces that evoke the spirit of the American muscle car based on MARCH LA.B's AM 1 watch model. Increased in size to 40mm wide, the steel watch features a design that is specifically influenced by one very special concept car. That vehicle being the 1968 Shelby Green Hornet prototype. Only a few were made and then forgotten for years. One or two of them exist today in restored condition. The all green body of the Green Hornet is captured in a few green elements on the watch include the crystal over the caseback (on the automatic movement version), and the color of the text on the date disc.

The Eleanor Mustang

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Our siblings at Autoblog covered this way back in February but if you are looking a sexy ride like the one Nicolas Cage drove in "Gone in 60 Seconds" you can get your own version of the Eleanor Mustang. Classic Recreations, a custom supercar shop in Oklahoma, creates the special-edition Eleanor Mustangs which are available in a fuel-injected version with 535hp for $139,900, or a supercharged 770hp fuel-injected version for $189,900. The car is built with brand new bodies and modern sports car suspension for a racear feel.

The car has performance features such as as sequential fuel injection, giant cross-drilled Baer brakes and a custom 410cid Keith Craft Racing engine. It also has keyless entry, an in-dash DVD, five-point racing harnesses and custom leather interior. It takes approximately four months to build these turn-key muscle cars and each one has an original serial number.

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Ford Motor Company and Fender have come together to create a very cool way to celebrate a love for both music and mustangs: the Ford Shelby GT500KR Stratocaster guitar. Limited to just 100, the guitar features the Colby logo, Shelby hood stripes, a handpainted body graphic, "Shelby" and "GT500KR" mother of pearl inlays at the 7th and 12th frets, and the hardshell case that comes with it is hand-embroidered with Ford and Shelby graphics. Each guitar is numbered, with the very first one (#000) having been auctioned off to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The remaining guitars are available for pre-order now and will be shipped sometime mid-April. $5600

Estee Lauder Goes After Mustang Men

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Cosmetics and Fragrance

Autoblog shot us an e-mail about this fragrant little story, and frankly, we're surprised this product didn't come around earlier. Estee Lauder's Aramis division has created a fragrance that mustang owners will no doubt want to keep in their glove boxes -- Mustang, the new fragrance for men, set to launch in July.

The Ford Mustang joins the ranks of brands teaming with the fragrance designer for cross-promotion purposes, including Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger and Coach. Their marketing folks no doubt had a meeting as well, because the fragrance is described as "bold, daring and legendary," words Ford's marketing people also associate with the vehicle.

The bold scents are lavender, ginger and lemon, while the daring is pipe tobacco and cedarwood. Legendary, represented by amber, fir balsam and patchouli, finishes off the scent.

The base model of the fragrance, so to speak, will be the cologne and aftershave, both of which will start at $20.

McQueen's Ferrari On The Block

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Auctions

Mustang, Ferrari... they've both got ponies on their badges, and are both linked to deceased actor Steve McQueen, but only one can go home with the winning bidder for now. Classic car enthusiasts may be excited to know that Steve McQueen's gawwgeous 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, glossed with metallic brown paint and fitted with beige leather, will be on the auction block at Christie's International Motor Cars 2007 in Monterey, Calif. on August 16. Expected to rake in as much as $1.2 million, experts are saying the Lusso is the finest example of its kind on the market today, which is saying quite a lot considering it served as McQueen's daily driver for 10 years. Of course, that's after over 4,000 man hours of restoration work by champion automobile restorer Michael Regalia, who acquired the vehicle in 1997 and painstakingly brought the Lusso back to life.

It's no wonder such a special car belonged to the "King of Cool" -- McQueen was an avid racing enthusiast, thorough automobile collector, and even performed some of his own car stunts. He's known best for what is probably the most famous car chase scene, which involved McQueen, the aforementioned Mustang, and some pretty fantastic stuntwork and special effects for 1968 in the movie Bullitt.

Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

$50,000 for a Mustang? When Saleen's involved things get fancy and pricey. The Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang has a classic muscle car look that is reminiscent of the Grabber Orange Boss 302 Mustang that Parnelli Jones drove in 1970. Inside it's got the Saleen  302 cid V8 engine. Other details include 302 valve covers, a black striped “shaker” hood, a 1970 replica rear wing and rear window quarter panels. It's only available in the Grabber Orange shown here and it even comes with removable decals to make it look just like Parnelli's 1970 Mustang. They haven't announced how many units will be made but it will cost in the the mid-to-high $50,000 range. Autoblog has the rest of the pictures and more details.
