I have a love/hate relationship with clear handbags -- on one hand they're very cute, springy, and and it's especially easy to find things in them. But on the other hand I often feel self-conscious about what I'm keeping in my bag since everyone can see (tampons anyone?) and every little bit of interior dust and grunge shows up so easily in the crevices of the bag's bottom. However you feel about them, though, this clear vinyl tote by Mulberry features some cute illustrations by artist Julie Verhoeven. $175

Mulberry Mix Material "Jenah" Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

The Mulberry Mix Material "Jenah" Shoulder Bag is a bold accessory for only the classiest of dames.

Bags this glamorous and opulent are difficult to wear correctly, but the cracked metallic leather, suede, and tumbled sheepskin in silvers and creams are irresistible. The pale colors are accented with pale gold hardware (very smart -- this purse is wearable with gold or silver jewelry) and little side straps which literally "belt" the purse to help it keep its shape.

The bag is 12.5"W x 9"H x 3"D, and should be worn with pale colors or dark prints like a rich blue and green plaid. Don't wear it with bright colors, it will look tacky.

The Mulberry Mix Material "Jenah" Shoulder Bag is available from Bloomingdales for $1,150.

Mulberry Launches U.S. Website, Offers Its Bayswater Bags Exclusively

In an effort to reach more of its loyal American fan base, British handbag designer Mulberry has launched a U.S.-dedicated website where devoted shoppers can snap up its iconic bags.

One such design, the popular Bayswater (above), will be available in four jewel-toned ostrich shades exclusively to American shoppers through the new site. Each bag is a limited edition piece and retails for $3,995.

If you can't justify the splurge, try using the site's wish list feature so someone else might.

Mulberry Mirrored Bayswater Bag, Handbag of the Day

Back in 2006 we covered the original Bayswater Bag from Mulberry and now we have an updated mirrored version. Flashy and bright, this bag is not for the timid (well, unless you're looking to get seriously bolder) and although it now had gold mirrored leather the bag still comes with all the great features of the original including my favorite: the flap closure with buckle that can be locked with the tiny padlock that comes conveniently hidden in the pouch charm that hangs off the handle (whether you use it or not miniature padlocks are always fun!). They show it here with a fall/winter outfit but I think metallics can be pulled off in any season. $1,595

Mulberry Milton Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

The shiny spot on the front of this Mulberry Milton Shoulder Bag is supposed to look like the leather is worn, but I'm not buying it -- to me it totally looks like it's been artificially shined up. But the emerald buffed metallic leather is right in line with this season's bright citrusy colors, and its two front pockets with double twist clasp closure, zip top and generous size make it a versatile as well as fashionable (if you like the shiny spot) for a cute summer dress or a t-shirt and jeans. $1,595

Just in Time for Valentines: The Mulberry Roxanne Bag from Gap

Previously released this past December in the UK and Paris, a newly redesigned version of Mulberry's Roxanne bag is now being launched here in the U.S., just in time for Valentine's Day. The result of a collaboration between the Mulberry brand and fashion stylist Katie Grand, the Mulberry Roxanne bag is part of Gap's (PRODUCT) RED (TM) line and is made of sweatshirt jersey in either red or gray. What better gift this season of love than a beautiful red bag that sends 50% of its profits towards to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa?

Want one this Valentine's Day? Well you'll need to head to New York, as the bag is available now but is being sold exclusively at the NYC Gap store located at 680 5th Ave at 54th St.

Mulberry Araline Leather Bag, Handbag of the Day

The Araline Leather Bag from Mulberry is made of claret-red leather, just bright enough to be eye catching, but not so bold as to be distracting. In other words, it could easily work with business attire, with which conservative handbags are usually the standard. This bag has a braided leather shoulder strap and ties with two leather tassels. All the hardware is antiqued brass, a good match for the warm red color. The leather, already soft, is said to improve further with age, so this is definitely a handbag to keep around. Price: $695.
