OMP Racing Debuts Vintage Collection

Filed under: Apparel, Wheels, Shoes, Sports, Men's Style

High-end Italian racing accessories company OMP Racing has introduced an amazing new collection of vintage-inspired gear that expresses the essence of classic motorsports and Steve McQueen style. Every product sold by the Genova-based company founded in 1973 is produced in Italy at the company's advanced 80,000 sq. ft. factory with a private racetrack, where every item is tested for quality, durability and safety. The Vintage collection (above), which includes a thermoplastic helmet with dark brown leather piping, fire-resistant cream stretch gloves with suede palms and inserts, and Carrera racing boots in ultra-soft leather with high sensitivity hydrocarbon-resistant soles, pays homage to some of the very first products OMP ever produced.

The Stallion: A $30,000 Big Wheel

As with most things in the luxury arena, it's about extremes and how much you really love something if you're going to spend loads of money on it. And it's no different with this three wheeler. It's called The Stallion from Thoroughbred Motorsports, and at $30,000 it's the world's most expensive three wheeler. Albeit a fancy one, it's basically a cross between a car and a motorcycle, plus all kinds of fun features covering everything from performance (the same power to weight ratio a Mustange GT and 45mpg highway gas mileage) to comfort (A/C and cup holders for both the driver in the front seat and the passenger in the back). Oh, and it comes in your choice of six fun colors.

NASCAR, Champagne and Caviar: No, Pigs Aren't Flying Past My First Turn Condo

It would seem that NASCAR isn't just for the Budweiser-drinking, pickup-truck-driving, blue collar folk the stereotypes would have you think.

It's a dream-come-true for any sports fan -- get picked up in a limo, shuttled to the venue by helicpter, led on tours before the event of the pit and garages, then maybe take a trip or two around the track yourself. Then you're rushed up to a private suite overlooking the track by some 80 feet, where you dine on professionally-catered food and drink, trying not to grin like an idiot as the rumble of the vehicles buzzes the floor beneath your feet. Only the best for those who can afford it.

And afford it they do. Not only are luxury boxes available, but several tracks have condominium suites, featuring 8' x 25' windows with a view of the track, complete with bedrooms and baths to the tune of just $23,000 per weekend. NASCAR teams and even drivers own a few of these condos, while corporations and well-to-do fans own the rest.

Even without the condo, life can be good for NASCAR fans depending on the location of the race. The Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, for example, offers up the perfect opportunity for a wine tour and spa package after the checkered flag falls.
