Picnic With Moet & Chandon

There is something about Champagne that makes designers giddy. Fashion Week Daily reports that Moët & Chandon has commissioned illustrator Daisy de Villeneuve to create a limited edition metallic gold leather tote. The bag has a pink lining and comes with the necessary supplies for a picnic in the park including a magnum of Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial, four tulip flutes, and two lacquered picnic boxes that feature delectable treats created by the executive chef of Fred's at Barneys New York. The Champagne-friendly snacks match the pink drink with mini lobster wraps, salmon mousse, pink chocolate-dipped strawberries and pink truffles on order. The package costs $1,500 at Barneys New York.

Most Expensive Champagnes

Not including hard to find exotics, Krug, Clos du Mesnil 1995 tops the Forbes most expensive champagne list at $750 a bottle. Only 12,624 of the bottles were produced. Coming in at second is Bollinger Blanc de Noirs Vielilles Vignes Francaises 1997 at $400 a pop. Despite coming from the Pinot Noir grape, it is a fine golden color. Dom Pérignon Rosé 1995 make is in the top 3 of course at $350. Aromas of strawberries and cream show Dom’s style of delicacy and finesse.

Not all rosé champagne is overly sweet and headache-inducing. The Moet & Chandon NV Brut Imperial Rose is fruity and light making it an excellent choice for pairing with appetizers or lighter meals. The champagne is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes and the wine has flavors of white fruit, strawberries and nuts. It is selling on Wine.com with a matching pink isotherm bag which seems to highlight the fact that this is a bit of a girly drink. It sells for $69.99 from Wine.com and can be ordered until 11 a.m. on December 28 for New Year's Eve delivery.
